[Medicine for Humanity, Healing for the World]
In a world challenged by conflict, poverty, and disease, the calling of a doctor extends far beyond clinics and hospitals.
Our new curriculum model — CU Medicine Plus — aims to nurture a new generation of doctors who embody global vision and humanitarian spirit, equipped not only with medical knowledge, but also with empathy and understanding.
In collaboration with our partner, the GX Foundation, we co-hosted a sharing session on “Compassion in Medicine and Humanitarian Assistance” on 8 October. Mr. Leung Chun-ying, Vice Chairman of the CPPCC and GX Foundation Chairman, shared his insights on the Foundation’s mission and experiences. Over the past seven years, GX Foundation has expanded its public health and medical assistance work to nine countries across four continents — highlighting that true understanding of global health needs can only be gained through firsthand experience and a genuine passion for medicine.
Professor Emily Chan, Assistant Dean (External Affairs), Faculty of Medicine, CUHK and Chief Executive Officer of GX Foundation, encouraged students to take the first step and engage in humanitarian work during our medical journey. She reminded us not to give up easily — as only through firsthand experience can one truly discover our strength and passion.
Medical education is not only about passing on knowledge —it is about learning to heal with compassion. CU Medicine continues to inspire students to step outside the classroom, engage with the world, and transform passion into perfection. 💪🏻
