Cityu GE 2243 GE2243 - Managing Public Dollars for a Better Society

In this course, students will be guided to (i) discover how the government raises and spends public dollars via tax and fiscal policy, (ii) critically analyze the management of public dollars and its impacts on individuals and the society, and (iii) synthesize opinions and propose credible and innovative recommendations to the government on better public funding management. Through appreciation of

real-life issues and current social affairs, students will be engaged in group activities (including multidisciplinary discussions, debates, and role-plays) that encourage them to explore a variety of social topics arisen from public dollars collection and spending. Students’ sense of citizen responsibility will also be increased via analyzing various tax- and public-related issues.
