Keep in mind you can vote in the NZ election while overseas.

The New Zealand 2020 General Election, along with the End of Life Choice and Cannabis legalisation and control referendums, will now be held on 17 October. Overseas voting will be possible from Wednesday 30 September until 7pm (NZT) on Saturday 17 October.

Enrol or update your details online at www.vote.nz/ using your New Zealand driver licence or passport.

For Kiwis based in Hong Kong: if you are enrolled correctly, the safest, easiest and quickest method of voting will be online - by downloading and printing your voting papers, completing them and then uploading them.

If you are enrolled correctly you will be able to upload your voting papers up until 7pm (NZT) on 17 October. For step-by-step information on how to do this (including the required statutory declaration) please visit: https://vote.nz/overseas/enrol-and-vote-from-overseas/download-and-print-your-voting-papers-from-overseas/

Due to COVID-19, the New Zealand Consulate-General Hong Kong will provide a limited service to support the election. This means we can help answer your questions and send (and receive) postal votes to those who need them. The Consulate will have this function up until 4pm on Friday 16 October.

For more information about enrolling and options for voting overseas visit: https://vote.nz/overseas/enrol-and-vote-from-overseas/vote-from-overseas/

If the Electoral Commission website (or contacting them by email or phone) does not provide an answer your question, please email the Consulate on [email protected] and we will get in contact to assist you as soon as we can.

Hello fellow Otago alumni in Hong Kong! Did you miss our wonderful gathering yesterday? If you did, you missed out a lot! (It's ok~ *Offer tissue*) But here's a wee glimpse of the event.

We were privileged to be able to hold our event at the New Zealand Consulate-General high up on the 65th Floor of Central Plaza. Those who have a fear of height might not enjoy the magnificent harbour view there, but many of us sure did.

We had Mr Carl Worker, the Consul General sharing a bit on working among New Zealand, Hong Kong, and China. He also showed his large support in our event.

Dr Royden Somerville QC, the University of Otago Chancellor, shared on the root, the heritage, and the history of the University. He also "pitched" about the future planning of our school. *Wink* Please refer to the University website for more details!

Professor Helen Nicholson, the Deputy Vice-Chancellor External Engagement, shared on the recent expansions and achievements of the University. It only made us even more proud to be connected to this academy.

Ms Shelagh Murray, the Director of Development & Alumni Relations, and Ms Donnella Aitken-Ferguson, the Alumni Engagement Manager, brought us wonderful sourvenirs from Otago, also showing us as OLD-AS (like... prehistoric... Well almost...) and recent pictures of the University.

On behalf of the wee organizing committee of the Hong Kong Alumni Network of the University of Otago, we were deeply grateful for the arrangements by the Consulate-General, the visit by the University Officials, the effort by the Alumni Office on the University side, and the attendance of YOU WONDERFUL PEOPLE!!

(Yeah... Some pictures are blurry. Guess who was a bit too excited.. Sowwy!)

Stay tuned for our next event!

A reminder of the pub scene in Dunedin ...

I was 16 years old the first time I ever illegally set foot in a nightclub, and that night in 2001 would pinpoint the start of a love affair with Dunedin’s vibrant student pubs and clubs scene. Drunk on Bernadino and KGBs, my best friend and
