[CIE-GBA] Commercial Agreements and Legal Knowledge Workshop

Contracts aren’t just “something for later.” Unclear terms, weak confidentiality, and unclear IP ownership can stall your startup or student project faster than you think.

On 14 April 2026, HSUHK’s Centre for Innovation and Entrepreneurship (CIE) held the second session of the Thematic Start-up Training Series — “Commercial Agreements and Legal Basics” Workshop.

Led by practising lawyer Ms Judy Lam, over 30 participants gained practical tools to build solid contracts, strengthen governance, manage risks, and protect IP — especially in cross-border and real-world scenarios.

A timely and highly actionable session for student founders and early teams!

Exciting Visit to Hong Kong Science and Technology Parks (HKSTP)!

Our 13 selected teams had a highly energizing day at HKSTP!

The visit started at the Incubation Centre in Building 19W, where HKSTP representatives enthusiastically introduced their Incubation Programmes and shared valuable startup resources. The teams then enjoyed a lively guided tour of the facilities.

After that, everyone proceeded to the HKSTP Experience Centre for a 45-minute guided tour, exploring cutting-edge innovations and the latest technology showcases.

In just two hours, our teams gained fresh inspiration about Hong Kong’s dynamic innovation ecosystem, funding opportunities, and world-class support available at one of the city’s leading science and technology hubs.

This visit has left everyone motivated and ready to take their ventures to the next level!

我們13支入選團隊剛完成了一次充滿能量、收穫滿滿的HKSTP參觀！活

HKSTP代表在19W大樓孵化中心向團隊熱情介紹各項孵化計劃，並分享實用創業資源，之後帶領團隊實地參觀設施。

隨後，大家前往HKSTP Experience Centre，參加45分鐘精彩導覽，探索最前沿的創新科技展品。

Starting a business is exciting… until the messy numbers hit you with stress

That’s why the Centre for Innovation and Entrepreneurship (CIE) at The Hang Seng University of Hong Kong just launched our Thematic Start-up Training Series under the GBA Youth Start-up and Social Innovation Programme!

First session: “Professional Bookkeeping, Accounting, and Tax Responsibilities” — Done!

Led by Mr Adrian Chong (HKICPA member & former Big Four Audit Manager), the workshop delivered super practical advice that founders can use from Day 1:

Setting up clean bookkeeping right from the start
Tracking cash flow & burn rate
Mastering HK tax obligations and deadlines
Understanding how accounting links to company law, directors’ duties & compliance
