🎙️ The final episode of the season is here!
For Margaret’s last episode before the autumn, she is delighted to be joined by PCI graduate Ciara Redmond, runner-up for the Martin Kitterick Award for her BSc research thesis, "Irish Catholic Cultural Norms in Psychotherapy: A Qualitative Exploration of Psychotherapists’ Lived Experiences."
In this fascinating conversation, Margaret and Ciara explore some of the key themes that emerged from Ciara’s research, including belonging and isolation, obligation versus personal choice, and comfort versus shame.
They discuss how these experiences can show up in the counselling room, how they may present differently across age groups, and why it is so important for therapists to be aware of their own values and perspectives so as not to unconsciously influence their clients. Ciara also highlights the current gap in training and CPD in this area.
Ciara began her career in Social Care before transitioning into psychotherapy and now works full-time in her private practice, Mind Yourself Therapy, based in Wexford.
