The Indian Institute of Management Guwahati marked a significant milestone today with the inauguration of its first MBA batch (2026-28), ushering in a new chapter in Indiaโs management education landscape.
The inaugural ceremony was graced by Shri Himanta Biswa Sarma, Hon'ble Chief Minister of Assam, who formally inaugurated the programme, in the august presence of several distinguished dignitaries, including Shri Ranoj Pegu, Hon'ble Education Minister, Assam; Prof. Bharat Bhasker, Director, IIM Ahmedabad and Mentor Director of IIM Guwahati; Shri Himangshu Baishya, Hon'ble MLA, Palashbari LAC; Dr Ravi Kota, Chief Secretary, Assam; Shri Narayan Konwar, IAS, Secretary, Department of Higher Education, Assam; Shri Paban Terang, Commissioner & Special Secretary to the Government of Assam, Public Works (Roads) Department; and Shri Anjan Goswami, Eminent Social Worker.
The students were also addressed online by Shri Dharmendra Pradhan, Hon'ble Minister of Education, Government of India, who conveyed his best wishes and encouraged them as they embark on this new journey.
The pioneer batch comprises 52 students from across India, reflecting the Institute's commitment to bringing together talented individuals from diverse backgrounds to shape the next generation of responsible leaders.
