Centre for Folklore Studies and Research signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with Sister Nivedita University on 13 June 2026. During the meeting, both organizations discussed several areas of potential collaboration and partnership for the near future.
We are hopeful that this association will lead to meaningful, outcome-oriented initiatives and activities that will enrich our work and collections. We sincerely thank the university authorities for their support and look forward to a productive and mutually beneficial collaboration.
We extend our sincere thanks to our Executive Members for joining us at the MoU signing ceremony and for their valuable presence and support. Their participation contributed significantly to making this important occasion successful and memorable.

Centre for Folk Culture Studies, University of Hyderabad, in association with the Centre for Folklore Studies and Research (CFSR), invites photographers, researchers, students, and cultural enthusiasts to submit photographs for a special exhibition celebrating World Folklore Day 2026.

The exhibition seeks to document and showcase the richness and diversity of folk traditions, cultural practices, and community heritage from across India and beyond.

Suggested Areas
Folk festivals and rituals
Traditional music and dance
Oral traditions and storytelling
Indigenous and tribal cultures
Folk crafts and artisans
Traditional occupations
Food heritage and culinary traditions
Cultural landscapes and sacred spaces
Community celebrations and social customs
Intangible Cultural Heritage

Eligibility
Open to photographers, researchers, students, and cultural enthusiasts.
Both amateur and professional photographers are welcome.

Submission Guidelines
Maximum 10 photographs per participant.
Images must be submitted in JPEG format.
Minimum resolution: 300 dpi.

Each submission must include:
Title of the photograph
Location
Brief description (50–100 words)
Photographer's name and affiliation
Photographer’s Bionote

Selection

Selected photographs will be exhibited during the World Folklore Day 2026 Celebration at Centre for Folk Culture Studies, University of Hyderabad. All selected participants will receive a Certificate of Participation.

Passionate about folklore, cultural heritage, digital storytelling, and community documentation? Join the Folk Digital Archive Fellow programme by Centre for Folklore Studies and Research (CFSR) and contribute to preserving India's living cultural traditions for future generations.
Gain hands-on experience in digital archiving, documentation, metadata creation, and folklore research.
Work with scholars, artists, researchers, and cultural practitioners.
Learn, document, digitize, preserve, and inspire.
