The B.Tech students of the B.Tech.–M.Tech. (Integrated) Degree Programme in Molecular Biology and Biotechnology visited Assam Bioethanol Private Limited (ABEPL) on 23rd May, 2026, as part of the practical component of the “Entrepreneurship Development and Business Management” course.
During the visit, the students attended insightful sessions delivered by ABEPL experts Mr. Massod Iqbal, Ms. Kashmiri Goswami, Dr. Amarjit Rajbongshi, and Dr. Pranab Kumar Nath on the bioethanol production system and the role of fermenters in the production process.
The experts highlighted the importance of the BioE3 Policy, which emphasizes the contribution of biotechnology to the economy, environment, and employment sectors, and discussed the promising opportunities it will create for trained biotechnology graduates in the coming years.
The visit also provided students with practical exposure to biorefinery operations, where biological resources such as bamboo are transformed into valuable industrial products including bioethanol, biochemicals, and other bio-based products.
The ABEPL team appreciated the enthusiasm, curiosity, and insightful questions raised by the students regarding bioethanol production and industrial biotechnology. They encouraged the students to consider their curriculum as a toolkit for addressing real-world industrial and sustainability challenges and advised them to cultivate the habits of observation, inquiry, documentation, and practical application of knowledge.
Such industry-academia interactions greatly enrich students’ learning experiences and help bridge the gap between classroom teaching and industrial applications.
