The Dept.of HSS, IIT Kanpur welcomes the formation of an Inter - Disciplinary Program in Cognitive Science at IIT Kanpur via an office order dated 1/6/17.

Cognitive Science involves a multi - faceted investigation of the human mind & studies everything that the humans do or are capable of doing taking inputs from fields like Philosophy, Psychology, Neuroscience, Computer Science, Linguistics, Anthropology and allied fields.

The IDP in Cognitive Science at IIT Kanpur consequently has participating faculty from HSS, Computer Science, BSBE, Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Design Program etc.

The Program is lead by senior professors like the Prof. Achla Raina (Head) from HSS, Prof. Harish Karnick from CSE and other distinguished senior faculty.

The Program will initially start with a PhD Program in Cognitive Science from July 2017 & will also start of Master's Program in Cognitive Science by 2018.

Dear Members,

To be more agreeable to all the existing members, we will change the name of this page back to HSS at IIT Kanpur. All the economics students will be requested to migrate to the Economic Sciences page, which will be created in a weeks time (since one cannot change the page name twice in 7 days).

IIT-Kanpur is first among the IITs to start Economic Sciences department. The new department came into operation from Saturday and students clearing JEE Advanced 2017 and also willing to pursue Bachelor of Science (BS - Economic Sciences) program would get admission in it.
