The Institution’s Innovation Council (IIC) of the University Institute of Engineering and Technology (UIET), Kathua Campus, University of Jammu, successfully organized aevent on the “Mentoring Event: Demo Day/Poster Presentation of Business Plans & Mentor Linkages”.

This event aimed to give students a platform to display their ideas through posters and give a brief introduction to their business proposals. These proposals are the foundation for the young mind to do more and give them motivation for the next step towards entrepreneurship.
The event started with the speech given by Er. Javaid Ahmed, HOD of CSE, UIET and welcome address was given by Dr. Mahesh Koul, President, IIC, UIET, KathuaCampus. After the welcome address, 7 teams comprising students from CSE and Civil Semester 2nd presented their proposals along with the posters made by each team.

Samiksha Verma, Deepshikha Sharma, Riya Choudhary from team-1 and their proposed proposal was “MEMOROOT” idea revolves around the concept of using waste paddy strawto make paper which can be used to grow plant in your house pot because it also contains seed.
Shreya Gupta, Aashima Sharma, Rashi Sharma, Priya Devi from Team-2 and their proposal was “VigiLens” that explained the problems faced by drivers like sleeping while driving which can be very dangerous, this proposal was on googles with sensors that can detect the eyes movement and if any movement of eyes related to sleeping will give the users warning and distract them.
Sharang Vashisht, Sugam Sigh, Laksh Mahajan, Vishal Salaria from Team-3 and their proposal was “EDUCompare”. This idea was on to compare the universities or colleges to help select the best college/university for their higher studies.
Shriya, Kamalpreet Kour, Janvi Verma from Team-4 and their proposal was “HerWay”. This idea was based on the security, safety and comfort of female that it will provide travelling related services to the women.
Mahika, Himanshi, Sacheet Singh from Team-5 and their proposal was “Reflx”. This idea of providing the AI that will help the user to have perfect fit for everyday wear while acting as a personal AI stylist for user.
Mahir Gautam from Team-6 and their proposal was ”EcoBrick”. This idea is based on the plastic bottle tightly packed with clen, non-recyclable plastic waste to create a durable, reuseable building block. These are low cost and sustainable materials.
Sacheet from Team-7 and their proposal was “Isabell”. This idea was to design an AI with Voice and a gentle personality to treat people with care, as this AI listens without judgment, remembers our history, and provides the comfort needed to reduce the weight of depression.

Each team was evaluated by the judges Dr Mahesh Koul, Er Javaid Ahmed, Dr Veerta Jamwal, and Dr Seema Jamwal. The 1st, 2ndand 3rd prize were given to Team-3, Team-2 and (Team-5 and Team-7) respectively.

On the occasion Prof. Arvind Jasrotia, Rector/Coordinator, UIET, Kathua Campus, in his message, motivates students with the quotes like “Entepreneurship is living a few years of your life like most people won't , so you can spend the rest of your life like most people can't". Success often hinges on pure perseverance, transforming risks into opportunities andmistakes into lessons and encouraging the faulty members to organize more such events.
Dr. Rockey Gupta, I/C Principal, UIET, Kathua Campus, in his message, emphasized the importance of such initiatives and encouraged students with inspiring quotes like “I believe you have to be willing to be misunderstood if you are going to innovate”.
The event concluded with a vote of thanks proposed by Dr Nisha Choudhary who acknowledged the efforts of the organizing team and expressed gratitude to the participants for making the session a success. The event was anchored by the student of 2nd Semester CSE Mahir Gautam. Dr. Nisha Choudhary and Er. Ritika Gupta co-ordinated the entire program.

Institution’s Innovation Council(IIC), Univesity Institute of Engineering and Technology(UIET), Kathua Campus (JU) organises “AI-Powered Solution Expo: AI/4.0 Prototypes”

Vinayak Shrivats, Kanav Gupta, Shivang Sharma, Brighu Tagotra from team-1 and their project title was “AI Resume-to-Career Gap Analyzer” which explained the gap between students resume and their skills that affect their chances to get better job opportunities.
Riya Ramotra and Priya Bandral from Team-2 and their project title was “Study Mind AI” which explained the challenges faced by students with time management during examination or difficulty in building a good timetable of studies.
Lotika Tandon, Divyanshi Dabgotra, Seema Devi from Team-3 and their project title was “AI-Powered Smart Attendance System using Face Recognition”.
Manyata Smabyal, Khushi Tadyal from Team-4and their project title was “ScamSense AI” which was designed to detect the fraud and type of fraud from the messages that are given to this AI based system.
Adity Siotra, Anish Sharma from Team-5 and their project title was “TradwWise AI: Intelligent, Frictionless Global Trade”
Each team was evaluated by the judges Er. Manasavi Sharma and Er. Meetu Sharma.

The Institution’s Innovation Council (IIC) of the University Institute of Engineering and Technology (UIET), Kathua Campus, University of Jammu, successfully organized an expert lecture on the theme “No-Code – Functional Role and Generative AI.”
The session aimed to provide insights into emerging technological trends, particularly focusing on the growing relevance of no-code platforms, functional roles in the tech industry, and the transformative potential of generative AI. The lecture served as a valuable platform for students and faculty to understand how innovation is reshaping modern workplaces and skill requirements.
The event was graced by distinguished dignitaries including Prof. Arvind Jasrotia, Rector/Coordinator, UIET, Kathua Campus, Dr. Rockey Gupta, I/C Principal, UIET, Kathua Campus, Dr. Sourabh Shastri, I/C Head, Department of Computer Science and IT, who emphasized the importance of such initiatives in fostering innovation and industry readiness among students. The welcome address was delivered by Dr. Mahesh Koul, President, IIC, UIET, Kathua Campus.
The keynote address was delivered by Er. Nipun Sharma, Senior Software Developer at Cognizant, who served as the Resource Person for the session. Drawing from his professional experience, he elaborated on practical applications of no-code tools, the evolving role of functional expertise in technology-driven environments, and the rapid advancements in generative AI. His engaging and informative talk encouraged students to explore interdisciplinary skills and stay adaptable in a fast-changing technological landscape. The lecture witnessed enthusiastic participation from students and faculty members, followed by an interactive Question and Answer session where attendees actively engaged with the speaker, seeking guidance on career pathways and emerging opportunities in the field.
The event concluded with a vote of thanks proposed by Er. Javaid Ahmad Rather, Head, Department of Computer Science and Engineering, UIET, who acknowledged the efforts of the organizing team and expressed gratitude to the speaker and participants for making the session a success. The Institution’s Innovation Council (IIC) of the University Institute of Engineering and Technology (UIET), Kathua Campus, University of Jammu, successfully organized an Awareness Program on Entrepreneurship & Biotech Innovation on February 17, 2026 at the Seminar Hall, UIET. The program was conducted in collaboration with CSIR-Indian Institute of Integrative Medicine, Technology Business Incubator, IIIM-TBI, Jammu and BioNEST-Bioincubation Centre, Industrial Biotech Park (IBTP), Kathua. The initiative aimed to promote entrepreneurial culture and innovation-driven research among students and faculty members.
Dr. Zabeer Ahmed, Director CSIR-IIIM Jammu & Chairman, BioNEST Bioincubation Center, Industrial Biotech Park (IBTP), Kathua, conveyed a strong message encouraging students, researchers, and aspiring entrepreneurs to actively participate in such awareness programmes. He emphasized the need to understand and leverage the immense potential offered by BioNEST Bioincubation Center at Industrial Biotech Park Kathua, highlighting its role in nurturing innovation, promoting biotechnology-driven startups, and strengthening the entrepreneurial ecosystem in the region. He urged the participants to make informed use of the incubation support, mentorship, and networking platforms available through the centre.
Dr. Saurabh Saran, Senior Principal Scientist, CSIR-IIIM and Principal Investigator & OSD BioNEST Bioincubation Center, IBTP Kathua, also communicated to innovators and young entrepreneurs to take full advantage of the state-of-the-art infrastructure and research facilities available at BioNEST Park Kathua.

The University Institute of Engineering and Technology (UIET) organized an Outreach Program titled “The Living Lab Project” on February 10, 2026, as part of its academic and experiential learning initiatives. The program was conducted at the historic Lakhanpur Fort under the theme “Transforming Heritage into Sustainable Economic Ecosystems.” The activity was organized in collaboration with the Institution’s Innovation Council (IIC), reinforcing UIET’s commitment to innovation-driven and community-oriented education.

The outreach program was led by Dr. Mahesh Koul, who guided students through an immersive learning experience focused on heritage conservation, sustainability, and socio-economic development. The initiative aimed to bridge classroom learning with real-world exposure by using heritage sites as living laboratories for innovation and sustainable practices.

A group of 25 enthusiastic students from the Nature and Wildlife Club and the Tourism and Heritage Club, accompanied by four faculty members — Dr. Mahesh Koul, Dr. Nisha Choudhary, Dr. Reemani Verma, and Er. Ritika Gupta — actively participated in the program. The students engaged in hands-on activities including biodiversity exploration, a nature trail clean-up drive, and interactive learning sessions on sustainable tourism and heritage-based economic models.

The visit provided students with valuable insights into community engagement, environmental responsibility, and sustainable development, emphasizing how heritage assets can be transformed into drivers of local economic growth while preserving cultural and ecological integrity.

Through “The Living Lab Project,” UIET continues to promote experiential learning, innovation, and responsible citizenship, aligning academic pursuits with national priorities of sustainability and heritage conservation.
