🎉 Congratulations, Dr. Satadru Jha! 🎉
We are proud to share that Dr. Satadru from the Department of Chemistry, SMIT, has published a groundbreaking research article titled “A Reusable Sensor for Ratiometric Detection of Cu²⁺ Ions” in Spectrochimica Acta Part A: Molecular and Biomolecular Spectroscopy.

🔬 What’s special about the work:

The probe is reusable, making it cost-effective and sustainable.

It works ratiometrically — meaning it gives relative changes in absorption at two wavelengths, which improves accuracy by minimizing environmental or concentration‐based artifacts.

It can detect copper(II) ions (Cu²⁺) at nanomolar levels, showing high sensitivity.

The sensor also shows good linearity over the tested concentration range, with strong binding behaviour (stoichiometry and binding constant established).

✨ From SMIT to IIT Bombay ✨

I decided to strengthen my knowledge in Chemistry during my M.Sc. course at Sikkim Manipal Institute of Technology (SMIT). The well-structured curriculum, regular classes, and the invaluable guidance of professors not only deepened my understanding but also prepared me for various competitive exams. My time at SMIT also gave me a wonderful exposure to research, shaping my aspirations for higher studies.

🏆 Achievements:

CSIR NET JRF (2024)

GATE (2024)

🎓 At Present:
I have joined as a Ph.D. Scholar at IIT Bombay, working in the Nucleic Acid Chemical Biology (NACB) Lab.

🔬 Area of Work:
Chemical biology investigations on G-Quadruplex DNA/RNA stabilizing ligands.

In short, SMIT was the foundation that helped me reach where I am today! 🌟
