SCEnE, IIT Mandi is delighted to announce that Mr. Vikram Kumar, a M.Tech by Research student specializing in Structural Engineering at IIT Mandi, has secured a fully-funded PhD position at the University of Strathclyde. He will be joining the Department of Civil and Environmental Engineering under the guidance of Dr. Enrico Tubaldi.

Vikram recently submitted his thesis on the topic "Earthquake ground motion sequences selection and its implication on aging bridge seismic resilience" under the guidance of Dr. Shivang Shekhar, Ph.D. (MH RESIST Lab).

We wish him all the best for his future endeavors!

We are pleased to announce that Dr. Ashutosh Kumar, Assistant Professor, SCENE IIT Mandi, has joined the Editorial Board of the ASCE International Journal of Geomechanics (IJOG), published by the American Society of Civil Engineers. Dr. Kumar is currently a Visiting Researcher at the Technical University of Darmstadt in Germany, supported by the DAAD Scholarship.

The International Journal of Geomechanics (IJOG) focuses on innovative aspects of geomechanics with emphasis on theoretical aspects, including computational and analytical methods, and the development of model validations using laboratory and field measurements towards the solution of practical geotechnical problems.

Dr. Ashutosh Kumar, Assistant Professor, SCEnE, IIT Mandi, is the Coordinator of the Training Program.

Ms. Alpa Rajput, PhD Scholar at SCEnE, IIT Mandi has received the International Association of Geochemistry 2024 PhD Student Research Grant. https://www.iagc-society.org/news/13350717

As a recipient of this grant, she will focus on investigating occurrence, transport and fate of pharmaceutically active compounds in the mid-Himalayan ecosystem. Alpa is a member of Applied Environmental and Contaminant Biogeochemistry Laboratory and is mentored by Dr. Harshad V. Kulkarni.
