The Combined Annual Training Camp (CATC-37) of the National Cadet Corps (NCC) was successfully conducted at the North Eastern Regional Institute of Science and Technology (NERIST), Nirjuli, from 01 to 10 June 2026. Organized by 1 Arunachal Pradesh Battalion NCC, the ten-day camp brought together more than 350 NCC cadets from various educational institutions across Arunachal Pradesh and served as a dynamic platform for military training, leadership development, personality enhancement, and nation-building activities.

The camp commenced with registration, orientation, and briefing sessions, followed by a structured training programme designed to instill discipline, teamwork, self-confidence, and leadership qualities among cadets. Daily activities included Physical Training (PT), Yoga, Zumba, Drill Practice, Weapon Training, Musketry, and Firing Practice, contributing to the overall physical and mental development of the participants.

A series of informative lectures and awareness sessions were conducted by military instructors and subject experts on diverse topics, including Communication Skills, Personality Development, Stress Management, Armed Forces Awareness, Disaster Management, National Integration, Environmental Conservation, First Aid and CPR, Career Opportunities in the Armed Forces, Snakebite and Burn Injury Management, and Disaster Preparedness. These sessions equipped cadets with valuable life skills while promoting awareness, resilience, and responsible citizenship.

One of the major highlights of the camp was the Weapon and Equipment Display conducted by the Indian Army. Cadets were introduced to modern military systems including the SIG Sauer 716 Rifle, AK-203 Assault Rifle, IWI Negev Light Machine Gun, SAKO TRG-42 Sniper Rifle, 84 mm Recoilless Launcher Mk-IV, 84 mm Recoilless Launcher Sub-Caliber, 40 mm Multi Gr***de Launcher (MGL), and MP9 Personal Defence Weapon. Advanced surveillance and observation equipment such as the Uncooled Hand Held Thermal Imager (HHTI), MMG Thermal Imaging Sight, Reflex Sight, Spotter Scope, and Holographic Sight were also showcased, providing cadets with valuable insights into contemporary defence technologies.

The camp also featured sports competitions, group activities, cultural programmes, and motivational sessions, fostering camaraderie, sportsmanship, teamwork, and national integration among participants. Cultural evenings provided a platform for cadets to showcase their talents and celebrate the rich cultural diversity of the region.

The successful conduct of CATC-37 was made possible through the dedicated efforts and leadership of Col Samudra Vijay, Commanding Officer, 1 AP BN NCC, and Lt Col Surjit Roy, Administrative Officer, 1 AP BN NCC, along with the unwavering support of the Permanent Instructor (PI) Staff, Associate NCC Officers (ANOs), Caretaker Officers (CTOs), and participating institutions. The camp witnessed active participation from Capt Dr. Achyut Sarkar (NIT Jote), S/O A.K. Yadav (GHSS Naharlagun), S/O Salam Babul Singh (MTGHSS Itanagar), S/O Priya (KV No. 2 Itanagar), CTO Prof. Bhagyalakshmi Narayanapuram (NERIST), and CTO Dr. Aswini Kumar Patra (NERIST), whose collective efforts contributed significantly to the smooth conduct of the programme.

As the host institution, NERIST provided the necessary infrastructure and institutional support for the successful organization of the camp. The event offered cadets an enriching experience that strengthened their discipline, confidence, leadership abilities, and commitment to national service.

The camp concluded with a valedictory function and prize distribution ceremony, recognizing outstanding cadets for their achievements in training, sports, and cultural activities. CATC-37 reaffirmed the core values of the National Cadet Corps and inspired young cadets to become responsible citizens and future leaders, upholding the NCC motto, "Unity and Discipline.

As part of the Combined Annual Training Camp (CATC-2026) being conducted from 1–10 June 2026 by 1 Arunachal Pradesh Battalion NCC at NERIST, Nirjuli, an inspiring motivational session was organized on 4 June 2026 for NCC cadets.

The distinguished speaker, Padma Shri Dr B.K.S. Sanjay, eminent Orthopaedic and Spine Surgeon, addressed the cadets on the theme “Discipline, Ethics Lead to Excellence.” Through his enriching life experiences, he highlighted the importance of discipline, ethical values, leadership, teamwork, character building, and dedication towards nation-building.

The programme was coordinated by Prof. Bhagyalakshmi Narayanapuram, CTO (SW), NCC NERIST, and was graced by the presence of Colonel Samudra Vijay Sarma, Commanding Officer, 1 Arunachal Pradesh Battalion NCC, and Lt. Colonel Surjit Roy, the Associate NCC Officers (ANOs) of participating institutions, and the PI Staff of 1 Arunachal Pradesh Battalion NCC.

During his address, Dr. Sanjay encouraged cadets to cultivate integrity, self-discipline, and a spirit of service, emphasising that true excellence is achieved through character, commitment, and continuous learning. His interaction with the cadets was highly engaging and motivating, leaving a lasting impression on the young participants.

The session reinforced the core values of NCC and inspired the cadets to become responsible citizens and future leaders committed to serving the nation.

Day 4 of Yuva Sangam Phase VI commenced with the arrival of the Chief Guest, Prof. M. P. Gupta, Director, IIM Lucknow. The event was also graced by Prof. M. K. Awasthi, Dean (Faculty); Prof. Girish Balasubramanian; Prof. Rakesh V.; and Retd. Col. Maneesh Kumar Singh, Chief Administrative Officer (CAO).

The programme began with the traditional Lighting of the Lamp ceremony, symbolizing knowledge, wisdom, and prosperity. This was followed by a soulful Ganesh Vandana presented by Naman Singh and his team from Bhatkhande Sanskriti Vishwavidyalaya. Retd. Col. Maneesh Kumar Singh then briefed the audience about Yuva Sangam and highlighted the significance of cultural exchange between Arunachal Pradesh and Uttar Pradesh.

The cultural performances commenced with an elegant girls' group dance by Mohit Kapoor's team from Bhatkhande Sanskriti Vishwavidyalaya. The Arunachal Pradesh delegates then captivated the audience with their vibrant traditional performance, Biktch Gang, showcasing the rich cultural heritage of the state. This was followed by a girls' group dance and a creative cosplay presentation by the delegates.

A delegate also shared their experiences and reflections on the Yuva Sangam journey, highlighting the friendships, learnings, and cultural exposure gained through the programme. The delegates were subsequently felicitated by Director Prof. M. P. Gupta in recognition of their enthusiastic participation and contribution to the success of the programme. The Arunachal Pradesh coordinators also felicitated the Director as a gesture of gratitude and appreciation.

Day 3 of Yuva Sangam Phase VI commenced with the delegates departing from IIM Lucknow for the historic city of Varanasi, one of the world's oldest living cities and a vibrant center of India's cultural and spiritual heritage.

The first visit was to Sarnath, where the delegates explored the monastery, museum, and temple, gaining insights into the life and teachings of Lord Buddha and the significance of the site in the history of Buddhism. The visit provided a valuable opportunity to appreciate India's rich spiritual and cultural legacy.

In the evening, the delegates enjoyed a boat ride along the sacred River Ganga, witnessing the beauty of the ghats that line the riverfront. A major highlight of the visit was experiencing the mesmerizing Ganga Aarti at Dashashwamedh Ghat, a grand spiritual ceremony that showcased the devotion, traditions, and cultural vibrancy of Varanasi.

The day concluded with a visit to the campus of Banaras Hindu University, followed by a tour of the magnificent New Vishwanath Temple. The experience offered delegates a glimpse into one of India's premier educational institutions while also allowing them to appreciate the architectural and spiritual significance of the temple. Yuva Sangam Phase VI offered another enriching day of learning, cultural immersion, and shared experiences for the delegates from Arunachal Pradesh visiting Uttar Pradesh.

Day 2 began with a tree plantation activity near Aryabhatt Guesthouse, highlighting the importance of environmental conservation and collective responsibility towards a sustainable future.

A special highlight was the visit to Jan Bhawan, where the delegates had the opportunity to meet the Hon’ble Governor of Uttar Pradesh, Smt. Anandiben Patel. The interaction was complemented by captivating regional dance and musical performances by the Arunachal Pradesh delegation, creating a vibrant celebration of India's cultural diversity and the spirit of national integration.

The delegates also visited the Uttar Pradesh Vidhan Sabha, where they gained insights into the functioning of the legislative assembly, explored the Assembly Hall, and toured the historic premises.

IIM Lucknow Welcomes Delegates from Arunachal Pradesh under Yuva Sangam Programme

Under the Yuva Sangam initiative of the Ministry of Education, Government of India, the Indian Institute of Management Lucknow (IIM Lucknow) welcomed a delegation of 39 participants, including 5 officials i.e. Dr. Yamem Tamut (Associate Professor), Dr. Meera Yadav (Associate Professor), Dr. Yogendra Mohan (Assistant Professor), Dr. Akhilesh Sharma (Assistant Professor), Dr. Raju Kumar Biswas (Assistant Professor) from the North Eastern Regional Institute of Science and Technology (NERIST), Arunachal Pradesh.

The delegation was received at Charbagh Railway Station by Prof. Girish Balasubramanian, Prof. Arvind Shroff, Prof. Rakesh V., who extended a warm welcome to the participants with garlands and shehnai/dhol.

Prof. Payal Mehra, Professor of Communication, conducted an engaging session highlighting the rich cultural heritage of Uttar Pradesh. She familiarised the delegates with the history, traditions, cuisines, folk dances, traditional attire, and iconic monuments of prominent cities across the state. To provide a deeper appreciation of the region's craftsmanship, she showcased renowned cultural artefacts, including Banarasi silk sarees, the brass handicrafts of Moradabad, and Lucknow's celebrated Chikankari embroidery.

Day 1 also offered the delegates an opportunity to experience the cultural and historical essence of Lucknow. In the evening, the participants explored some of the city's prominent landmarks, including the Bara Imambara, the Residency, and the Food Valley, gaining first-hand exposure to the city's architectural heritage, history, and culinary traditions.

The Yuva Sangam programme seeks to strengthen people-to-people connections and promote cultural exchange among youth from different regions of the country, fostering the spirit of Ek Bharat Shreshtha Bharat. The visit to IIM Lucknow provided the delegates with a valuable platform to engage with the culture, traditions, and educational ecosystem of Uttar Pradesh while building meaningful connections across regions.

The fifth and final day of Yuva Sangam Phase VI under Ek Bharat Shreshtha Bharat marked the successful conclusion of the cultural exchange programme for delegates from Uttar Pradesh in Arunachal Pradesh and the commencement of a reciprocal journey for the Arunachal Pradesh contingent to Uttar Pradesh.

The day began with an exposure visit to Ziro Valley, where delegates explored Sikhe Lake and Kasa Botanical Park, appreciating the region’s natural beauty and reflecting on their experiences in Arunachal Pradesh. Upon returning to NERIST, a sapling plantation drive was organized, symbolizing friendship, environmental responsibility, and the bonds forged through Yuva Sangam.

The Valedictory Programme was held at the Silver Jubilee Hall, NERIST, where delegates shared their experiences and expressed gratitude for the hospitality extended by NERIST and the people of Arunachal Pradesh. Addressing the gathering, Shri Toko Babu (APCS), Deputy Commissioner, Itanagar Capital Complex, encouraged the Arunachal Pradesh delegates to make the most of their upcoming visit to Uttar Pradesh and urged the Uttar Pradesh participants to serve as ambassadors of Arunachal Pradesh. Prof. Narendranath S., Director, NERIST, highlighted the role of Yuva Sangam in fostering national integration and cultural understanding among youth.

NERIST, the coordinating institution for Arunachal Pradesh, successfully conducted the programme from 26–30 May 2026. It was also announced that the Arunachal Pradesh contingent, comprising students from NERIST, Rajiv Gandhi University, and NIT Arunachal Pradesh, would depart for Uttar Pradesh under the coordination of IIM Lucknow.

The programme concluded with a Flag-off Ceremony for the Arunachal Pradesh contingent and the departure of the Uttar Pradesh delegates, who left with lasting memories, new friendships, and a deeper appreciation of Arunachal Pradesh’s culture and heritage. The successful completion of Yuva Sangam Phase VI reflected the true spirit of Ek Bharat Shreshtha Bharat by strengthening cultural ties, mutual learning, and national integration.

The fourth day of Yuva Sangam Phase 6 under Ek Bharat Shreshtha Bharat was dedicated to exploring the cultural heritage, traditions, and natural beauty of Ziro Valley, Arunachal Pradesh. The delegates from Uttar Pradesh were taken on an educational and cultural excursion to various prominent sites in the region.
The visit began with a stop at Shivlinga, a revered natural landmark known for its religious and cultural significance. The delegates then visited a local village, where they interacted with residents and gained insights into the lifestyle, traditions, and unique culture of the local community.
The next destination was the Naara Aaba Wine Refinery, where participants learned about the production process of locally made fruit wines and the role of such enterprises in promoting sustainable livelihoods and tourism in the region. Following this, the delegates visited the scenic Seeh Lake, appreciating its natural beauty and serene surroundings.
The 4th day concluded with a visit to Pamu Yalang viewpoint, offering panoramic views of the picturesque Ziro Valley and its landscape. The third day of Yuva Sangam Phase 6 under Ek Bharat Shreshtha Bharat focused on technology, biodiversity, and cultural exchange. The delegates from Uttar Pradesh, along with the NERIST Yuva Sangam team, visited the 3D Printing Laboratory at NERIST, where they were introduced to modern 3D printing technology and its applications in education and industry.

This was followed by an informative presentation on the Flora and Fauna of Arunachal Pradesh delivered by Prof. P.R. Gajurel, Dean of Students’ Affairs, NERIST. The session highlighted the state's rich biodiversity and the importance of preserving its unique natural heritage.

Later, the delegates attended a screening of “Meri Dharam Meri Maa,” the first movie of Arunachal Pradesh, which provided insights into the culture, traditions, and values of the state.

In the evening, a Traditional Attire Show was organized, where the delegates from Uttar Pradesh enthusiastically wore and showcased the traditional attires of various tribes of Arunachal Pradesh. The second day of Yuva Sangam Phase VI under the initiative of Ek Bharat Shreshtha Bharat was dedicated to understanding the governance, culture, and spiritual heritage of Arunachal Pradesh. The delegates from Uttar Pradesh, accompanied by the NERIST Yuva Sangam team, visited Lok Bhawan, where they had the privilege of interacting with the Hon’ble Governor of Arunachal Pradesh. The Governor addressed the delegates and shared insights about the state’s history, culture, traditions, and developmental progress, providing participants with a broader understanding of Arunachal Pradesh.

Following the interaction, the delegates proceeded for lunch before continuing with the day’s visits. The participants then visited the Gompa Buddhist Temple, where they experienced the spiritual environment and learned about Buddhist traditions practiced in the region. Afterwards, the delegates visited Donyi Polo Gangging, gaining knowledge about the indigenous faith, beliefs, and cultural identity of Arunachal Pradesh.

In the evening, a Cultural Night was organized at the NERIST Silver Jubilee Hall, where delegates and participants came together to celebrate cultural diversity through performances and interactions. The program provided an opportunity for cultural exchange, strengthening bonds among participants and promoting the spirit of unity and mutual understanding.

The day concluded with enriching experiences in governance, spirituality, and cultural heritage, further reflecting the vision of “Ek Bharat Shreshtha Bharat” through meaningful exchange and learning among the youth of different states.
