Government Degree College (GDC) Verinag celebrated the 80th Independence Day of India on 15 August 2026 with patriotic fervour, enthusiasm, and a strong sense of national pride. The programme was attended by the worthy Principal, faculty members, and students of the college. The celebrations commenced with the hoisting of the National Flag by the worthy Principal, Prof. Roop Krishan Pandit. The unfurling of the Tricolour was followed by the singing of the National Anthem, in which all the students and members of the faculty participated with due respect and solemnity. On the occasion, the worthy Principal addressed the gathering and highlighted the significance of Independence Day and the values associated with India’s freedom struggle. He emphasised the importance of patriotism, unity, integrity, responsibility, and dedication towards the nation. He also encouraged the students to become responsible citizens and contribute positively to the progress and development of the country. The participation of students and faculty members added enthusiasm and dignity to the celebrations. The event provided an opportunity for the college community to reflect upon the sacrifices of the freedom fighters and to reaffirm its commitment to the ideals of the Constitution and the nation.The Independence Day celebrations at GDC Verinag thus concluded on a patriotic and inspiring note, reinforcing the spirit of unity, freedom, and national responsibility among the students and faculty members.
