On Tuesday, March 22nd, a team of 62 optometry students visited Eshibinga Secondary School for an impactful, educative, and eye-saving outreach. The team provided essential services, including visual acuity testing, refraction, and the dispensing of spectacles to students in need.
For many, receiving glasses was a life-changing moment—enhancing not only their vision but also their overall learning experience. The outreach was a meaningful blend of service and learning, leaving a lasting impression on both the students and the future optometrists involved.
We also extend our heartfelt gratitude to Dr. Sheilah and Dr. Doreen for their unwavering support and facilitation throughout the activity.
And to you, the Daughters and Sons of Agrippina 😂—may the Lord shine His face upon you and grant you grace, even as you set aside your comrade struggles to serve Kenyans.

WORLD OPTOMETRY WEEK...
DAY ONE
WORKSHOP

We kicked off our WOW with an impactful and eventful workshop that truly set the tone for the week ahead.

Our lecturers laid bare their passion and love for optometry, reminding us why we chose this noble profession.

Our COD, Dr. Rono, officially launched the week with a powerful message—urging us to begin with purpose and strive to become optometrists who create real impact in society.

Dr. Doreen (Patron, Outreach) walked us through the week’s itinerary, emphasizing that this is not just a celebration, but a time to give back through free community services.

Dr. Ragot (Examinations and Postgraduate Coordinator) took us through the scope of optometry practice. He highlighted how far the profession has come, where we currently stand, and the promising future ahead—reassuring us that our future is indeed bright.

Dr. Sheila took us through the importance of developing a disciplined obsession with our career. She shared her personal journey—recalling a time when she was uncertain about her path and when optometry was not widely known. However, through passion and dedication, she achieved great milestones. She encouraged us to become optometrists whose paths are clear, impactful, and worth emulating.

The interactive Q&A session led by Dr. Wekesa (Timetabler and Quality Assurance) created a platform for open dialogue. He addressed key concerns, clarified misunderstandings, and allowed students to express themselves freely—creating a healthy and engaging exchange.

Christine Ngatia capped the session with a powerful talk on leadership skills, reminding us that beyond clinical excellence, we must also strive to be effective and inspiring leaders.

A truly powerful start to an amazing week
