The Faculty of Health Sciences, formerly the College of Health Sciences is located within Kenyatta National Hospital four kilometres from the city centre. It is credited to offering quality training, research consultancy and community service. The Faculty offers both undergraduate and postgraduate programmes in various fields of health. These programs are integrated for government and full fee pay

ing (self-sponsored) students. (Nursing and Biochemistry) while postgraduate programmes include, Diplomas, MSc, MMed, MDS, M.Pharm, MSC.N, MD and PhD in all relevant fields. Detailed information of the programmes can be obtained from the relevant schools. The Faculty has considerable physical facilities with fully stocked library, laboratories and qualified personnel to conduct quality teaching and research activities. Within clearly defined mission, vision and core values, the Faculty is proud to continually offer training of high standards, research and participation in formulation of healthcare policies. Our research portfolio is extensive with a funding of about five hundred million shillings per year. Activities span from basic to applied and operational research with strong platforms for clinical trials, traditional medicine, quality assurance of medicines, vaccine developments and Tropical and Infectious diseases.

The University of Nairobi Faculty of Health Sciences, led by Dean Prof. Daniel Ojuka, participated in the Global HEART Delegation Week in Berlin, strengthening partnerships with leading institutions including Charité – Universitätsmedizin Berlin.

The visit marked the extension of the Global HEART partnership and highlighted ongoing collaboration in research, training, and innovation in global health.

Health Cabinet Secretary Aden Duale has reaffirmed the government’s commitment in advancing national TB response by strengthening diagnostic capacity through free TB screening and treatment all over the country.
Speaking at this year’s World Tuberculosis (TB) Day, hosted by the University of Nairobi (UoN) under the theme; Yes! we can end TB! Led by Government, driven by communities, the CS added that Kenya has made commendable progress with a 45% decreased rate of the disease incidence and a 58% reduction in TB related deaths since 2018.
The CS also called upon kenyans to take advantage of the available TB resources provided by the government. He also cross-sectional approach to deal with socioeconomic factors that are drivers in TB transmission such as poverty, environmental exposure, overcrowding and lack of access to medical facilities to eradicate the disease.
Representing the Vice Chancellor, DVC Research, Innovation and Enterprise Prof. Leonidah Kerubo reaffirmed the university’s commitment to ending TB and improving lung condition treatment.
Stakeholders in the health sector called for increased funding towards community systems that support the fight against TB.
The event brought together stakeholders in the health sector led by the Cabinet Secretary (CS) of Health Aden Duale, County health officials, partners, university staff, students and members of the community.
