The Sabaragamuwa University of Sri Lanka (SUSL) calls applications for the Aptitude Test to select candidates to follow the B.Sc. Honours in Sport Sciences & Management and B.Sc. Honours in Physical Education degree programmes based on the results of the G.C.E. (A/L) Examination 2025. To be eligible for admission to the above-mentioned degree programmes, candidates should have obtained at least ‘S’ grades in any three subjects at the G.C.E.(A/L) Examination (Please refer to the University Admissions Handbook 25/26).

𝐀𝐭 𝐭𝐡𝐞 𝐀𝐩𝐭𝐢𝐭𝐮𝐝𝐞 𝐓𝐞𝐬𝐭;
𝐀 𝐭𝐨𝐭𝐚𝐥 𝐨𝐟 𝟔𝟎% 𝐰𝐢𝐥𝐥 𝐛𝐞 𝐠𝐢𝐯𝐞𝐧 𝐟𝐨𝐫 𝐭𝐡𝐞 𝐏𝐫𝐚𝐜𝐭𝐢𝐜𝐚𝐥 𝐓𝐞𝐬𝐭. Practical Test components are 35 m Sprint, 5×10 m Shuttle run, 1000 m Aerobic run, Standing Broad Jump, Push-ups (the Nature of the Push-ups test is the same for both male and female candidates), and Sit and Reach Test.
The candidate should produce a valid medical certificate obtained from a licensed medical practitioner before starting the said test.
𝐓𝐡𝐞 𝐫𝐞𝐦𝐚𝐢𝐧𝐢𝐧𝐠 𝟒𝟎% 𝐦𝐚𝐫𝐤𝐬 𝐰𝐢𝐥𝐥 𝐛𝐞 𝐠𝐢𝐯𝐞𝐧 𝐟𝐨𝐫 𝐭𝐡𝐞 𝐜𝐚𝐧𝐝𝐢𝐝𝐚𝐭𝐞’𝐬 𝐚𝐜𝐡𝐢𝐞𝐯𝐞𝐦𝐞𝐧𝐭𝐬 in International, National, Provincial, and school-level performances of sports.

The Department of Sports Sciences and Physical Education proudly congratulates its students who delivered exceptional performances at the 6th Asian Beach Games held in Sanya, China.

- 𝐃𝐢𝐥𝐚𝐱𝐬𝐡𝐚𝐧𝐚 𝐕𝐢𝐦𝐚𝐥𝐞𝐧𝐭𝐡𝐢𝐫𝐚𝐧 (𝐁𝐚𝐭𝐜𝐡 𝟐𝟎𝟏𝟖/𝟐𝟎𝟏𝟗) secured a Silver Medal in Beach Kabaddi
- 𝐌𝐒𝐌 𝐀𝐧𝐬𝐚𝐟 (𝐁𝐚𝐭𝐜𝐡 𝟐𝟎𝟐𝟒/𝟐𝟎𝟐𝟓) 𝐚𝐧𝐝 𝐌𝐀𝐒𝐌𝐀 𝐀𝐪𝐚𝐫 (𝐁𝐚𝐭𝐜𝐡 𝟐𝟎𝟐𝟐/𝟐𝟎𝟐𝟑) each earned Bronze Medals in Beach Kabaddi, contributing significantly to the team’s success.
- 𝐖𝐈𝐊 𝐏𝐢𝐲𝐚𝐬𝐢𝐫𝐢 (𝐁𝐚𝐭𝐜𝐡 𝟐𝟎𝟐𝟎/𝟐𝟎𝟐𝟏) achieved a commendable 7th place in the Long Jump event.

These accomplishments reflect the students’ dedication, perseverance, and the strong support system within the department. Their success brings immense pride to the university and serves as an inspiration to fellow students.

The Department extends its heartfelt congratulations to all the participants and wishes them continued success in their future sporting endeavors.

It is with deep sorrow that we announce the passing of Sameera Gunawardhana, a student from the 2019/2020 batch of the Department of Sports Sciences and Physical Education, Sabaragamuwa University of Sri Lanka (SUSL).

Under the Community Service module (PED 41204) Year IV Semester I (Batch 20/21- Group 02) successfully completed their community project by donating 30 table tennis rackets to the Department of Sports Science and Physical Education.

Meanwhile, The Future Champs Open Table Tennis Mixed Doubles Tournament was also conducted as the final event of the project, together with the official handover ceremony of the donated equipment to the department.

The event was held under the guidance of Mr. P. P. Weerakkody (Group Supervisor), and was graced by Professor A. W. S. Chandana, Head of the Department of Sports Science and Physical Education, Faculty of Applied Sciences, along with academic staff, referees, students, and community members.

This initiative aimed to support student sports development while promoting sportsmanship, teamwork, and community engagement.
