The Department of Media at the Faculty of Creative Industries (FCI), University Tunku Abdul Rahman, is a unique and creative department as it hosts two degree programmes that encompass the prominent and dominant elements of Communication, Creativity, Film and Radio. These are programmes in tune with modern and progressive time. They provide training to students from the academic and practical pers
pectives to communicate effectively in their field of choice, both locally and globally. The department hosts two degrees namely, the Bachelor of Communication (Hons) Broadcasting and Bachelor of Media and Creative Studies (Hons). These three-year programme include a compulsory semester of Industrial Training to ensure all graduates are market ready and live up to their potential as professional, marketable and impactful practitioners. In the vision of research and teaching excellence, staff in the Department of Media constantly strive to create and excel in doing communication research while disseminating up-to-date knowledge and theories to their students. The Centre for Media and Creative Communication (CMCC) in this context aims at providing a platform for academic staff of the university to conduct research on media/new media and creative communication. BACHELOR OF COMMUNICATION (HONS) BROADCASTING
The Broadcasting programme provides students with a framework for understanding communication and production theories, techniques and processes within the context of broadcasting. Key research, communication, production, and media-handling skills are taught to enable students to handle challenge real-world projects from communication to delivery and subsequent evaluation. The Broadcasting industry has become, and will remain in the foreseeable future one of the most powerful driving forces in boosting the creative industries in Malaysia and directly contribute towards nation building, and our graduates are suitably poised to do so. Graduates can seek employment as announcers, producers, programme directors, radio deejays, video editors, broadcast technicians, audio engineers, studio managers, or writers for television or radio stations. BACHELOR OF MEDIA AND CREATIVE STUDIES (HONS)
The Bachelor of Media and Creative Studies programme provides student with a framework for understanding and appreciating the concepts, theories and applications of media and creativity with a specific focus on media industry. The programme would be an important contribution to society as it trains a whole new generation of creative individuals who are versatile and thus able to work within the various existing and emerging creative industries in Malaysia.
