"UTME is not a major determinant of admission. If I'm going to study in London, no one will ask me for any JAMB" - JAMB Director of Public Affairs and Protocol, Fabian Benjamin

**🔥 BIG NEWS for Nigerian Students & Parents!**

JAMB just dropped major updates on admissions!

✅ **No more UTME** for candidates seeking **Education Programs** and **Agriculture (non-Engineering)** courses.
✅ **Minimum age** for entry into tertiary institutions **remains 16**.
✅ **New minimum scores**:
- Universities: **150**
- Colleges of Nursing: **150**
- Polytechnics: **100**

This is a game-changer for many students, especially those who struggle with UTME but shine in their chosen fields.

**What do you think?**
- Is this a good move to increase access to education?
- Or should UTME still be compulsory for everyone?

"From 192 JAMB Score to 4.72 CGPA (First Class Honours)"

LOW JAMB score does not define your future.

Moses Udah has become a strong example of resilience, consistency, and academic excellence after graduating as the Second Best Graduating Student of the Department of Mathematical Sciences, Federal University of Technology Akure Class of 2024.

Admitted with a 192 JAMB score, Moses refused to let numbers limit his ambition. Through discipline and hard work, he graduated with an outstanding 4.72 CGPA and recorded three perfect 5.0 GPAs on his journey to a First Class degree.

His story is a reminder to students everywhere that success in the university is not determined by how you start, but by the effort, consistency, and determination you maintain along the way.

FUTA and “low JAMB score” do not stay in the same sentence 😭📚

Some people still score 150 and confidently choose FUTA as first choice like the admission officers will suddenly become emotional 😂⚙️

This is not even to mock anybody, but FUTA has built a reputation over the years as one of the most competitive universities in Nigeria, especially for engineering and technology-related courses. The reality is simple: if your score is below 200, the competition becomes extremely difficult because thousands of brilliant students are fighting for the same space every year.

The funny part is how some aspirants will still say:
“Na God go run am.”
Brother, even God will ask you to add extra lessons and rewrite JAMB 😭

FUTA is one of those schools where students enter with strong scores and still end up battling academic pressure every semester. From calculations to assignments, tests, practicals, and project stress, the school already has enough warriors. So before choosing FUTA, your JAMB score should at least look ready for battle too 😂

No matter how hard people joke about FUTA, one thing nobody can deny is that the school values brilliance, hard work, and serious academic competition. That is why every year, high scorers proudly choose FUTA for courses like Software Engineering, Computer Engineering, Electrical Engineering, and many others.

So to every FUTA aspirant out there: aim high, prepare harder, and do not rely on luck alone. Because FUTA admission no be “try your luck” program 😭💚⚙️

From sleepless nights to endless calculations, one thing is clear:

Imagine being stucked in 300level since admitted into FUTA in year 2021 😱

The Federal University of Technology, Akure (FUTA) has suspended admissions into its MBBS programme for the 2026/2027 academic session due to ongoing accreditation issues with the Medical and Dental Council of Nigeria (MDCN) and to resolve bottlenecks in clinical training. Students admitted since 2021 have been stuck at the 300-level since 2024, prompting fears over the program's progress.

Key Issues and Updates as of April/May 2026:

Suspension of Admission: FUTA announced no new students will be admitted into the MBBS programme for the 2026/2027 session, affecting both UTME and Direct Entry candidates.

Accreditation Delay: The first batch of students, admitted in 2021, reached 300-level but has been unable to progress due to pending MDCN accreditation. Three sets of students are currently at the 300-level, causing frustration and fears of a delayed graduation.

Management Response: While announcing the admission suspension, FUTA management maintains that the programme is not being discontinued and is working to ensure "hitch-free" clinical training for the students already enrolled.

Action for Applicants: Candidates who chose FUTA for MBBS in the 2026/2027 JAMB session are advised to use the JAMB Change of Institution to avoid losing their admission.

The university is making efforts to secure the necessary accreditation to move the student through the clinical stages, aiming to address the backlog, with efforts mentioned to conclude this in 2026.
