TAKING ADVANTAGE OF THE MOMENT AND SUCCEEDING AGAINST ALL IMPEDIMENTS: A NECESSARY SHIFT FROM ACADEMIC EDUCATION TO SELF EDUCATION.
Succeeding against all barrier In a twenty first century competitive environment demands that we engage ourselves in self study, self study of who we are and what we shall become. It is noteworthy to assert, that, those whom society celebrate are those who identified, discovered and develop themselves. It is a necessity to take on; task to discover one purpose and one special assignment. There cannot be a great future or better tomorrow if purpose of living is not known and this cannot be discovered within the four walls of the university but a personal study of one personal uniqueness.
Everyone desire better future but not everybody is ready to make better future a reality. We are never going to become what we envisage if we are never ready to work it out. Greatest inventors, renowned innovators and most renowned revolutionist and world leaders are those who never practice what they study in school but simply worked on an idea they have discovered. -. It is a discovery of their uniqueness that set them at the centre stage. To discover our uniqueness, we must embark on an investigatory enquiry into our own person, discovering our uniqueness is not enough but taking advantage of each day and each passing moment that will make our uniqueness more than a fancy. Taking advantage of the moment connote preparing for tomorrow through today's opportunity. The time to Prepare for the future is now; now that we are strong, bold, courageous and agile. The future we visualised will amount to nothing if we are not ready to make use of the privilege we have now and the ability inherent in us. Think outside your scope of study, be versatile, learn everything, endeavour to know a token of all things. Be dynamic, amenable, flexible in your decision and be ready to embrace change. Real life education is the sure way to achieving success. Get educated, be informed, dare to know more than your lecturers, explore the world within your horizons.
However, it is a necessity that you take advantage of each moment, each advantage you take will determine how close you are to success, advantage is an opportunity converted to success, if you seriously want to achieve success today, look around you; there are opportunity calling for annexation. You are some total of the advantage you maximize in each moment, each hour, each day. the life you live now is as a result of your plans, action, inaction, thoughts, decision and maximize advantage of yesterday... Refuse to compromise your tomorrow greatness for today pleasure. you cannot be greater than your thought and vision is a product of thought, you cannot do better or get better, if you are not taking advantage of each opportunity lurking in each moment. Class room education is not enough, you need real life education. You are a product of you continuous striving. Strive more, dream more, be dogged, be determined... Surely you shall get there. If you know what you want and you are ready to get it, I have one assurance to give you: " it is yours". what you see in your subconscious minds is what you shall become if only you are ready to work towards its fulfillment.... See beyond the four walls of this university, see beyond the beautiful girl and handsome lads on the campus. What you see yesterday is what you are today, what you envisioned today is what you shall see tomorrow. My brother and sister what do you see? Do you see beyond this university? What future do you envisioned? What is the thought of your mind? A man cannot be greater than the thought of his heart! One of the greatest tragedies in life is to have eyes but lack vision. Many look but few see. Visualise something meaningful for your life today, visualise yourself achieving what certificate cannot earn you and be ready to guide it through.
Furthermore: I put it to you today a discarded fallacy and albumen fact- life is a race; only early risers, dogged mind run it through. Life is a race full of pot holes, huddles and pitfalls but at the end it's only early risers, resilient mind, indefatigable spirited people that take the medal. The time to start life race is now, now that you are young. This is the time to get up and get that job done, this is the time to get up and read that book, time to dream dreams and envisioned that vision. The Bible says our young men shall see visions and dream dreams. Time is not on your side, it is seriously running out. Those who harvest in summer have sown in the raining season. Now that we are youths; it is our planting season. This is the time to make use of those large deposited resources in us. Stop the procrastination, stop the nonchalant approach to life, stop shifting to evening that which the morning can accomplish, stop that illicit drugs and immoral activities that deter and impede dreams and visions. You can fly only if you believe you can. You can drive that car and live in that beautiful house you watch on your TV if only you can envisioned visions and work towards its fulfillment. We have all it takes to be great, we have all its take be celebrated, we have all it takes to be on top, we have all it takes to shine, we have the strength and the ability make use of these! God does not create an empty man. If only you can see it, you can become it. Start visualizing, start planning and start working towards accomplishment of your vision. The clock is ticking!
Let me say as quickly as possible, that achieving success is not about discovering an alternative to certificate alone but right application of wisdom principles and success canons. Below are some of the steps; to taking advantage of each moment achieving what certificate cannot earn us and succeeding against all impediments.
Self discovery, Knowing who you are is essential to achieving greatness. Sometimes we look at ourselves and see ourselves below what we are because we are ignorant of who we are. An enquiry into who we are is a necessary exercise that we must engage ourselves. We are made for something, our life is made for a specific purpose, our life is a solution to certain problem, and we have a special assignment. We are here for something, something greater and better than our present state. We are not just here, we are not here in this Cosmo just to occupy space or increase the population of the earth. We are here to create impact, fulfill purpose and to make this world a better place for us and generation yet unborn. The account of creation posited that God made man and ladened man with blessings; promises and assignment-" replenish, dominate, subdue and multiply". A Divine command handed over to man by master of the universe. We cannot know who we are if we sit down, watch and ponder over what we are. We know who we are by functioning at our best, identifying what we are good at and discover that job that give us leisure. A man must live for something and die for something, nothing is more frustrating than to live a life without purpose. When a sense of a purpose is known and we woke up to identify those latent abilities which are necessary armour in us, the next thing we do is to invest in ourselves. We invest in ourselves by building our mental capacity and developing our mental armoury: The greatest investment is the investment on our mental capacity. Read books: a book is like a secret Ladened scroll, the more you open it, the more you gain awareness of what you are oblivion of. Know yourself, don't live in your own shadow.
Secondly, planning and working towards accomplishment of who we are. A man who visualize his future and discovered himself but lack the courage, tenacity and smartness to accomplish it is likened to a man who say I will plant but refused to plant and latter wish to harvest when it is summer. A man with visions without work is like a shadow chaser. When we visualised our future, we ipso facto work towards its fulfillment. Do you see any man that is diligent in his work, such a man shall stand with great men and dine with kings and princes. Our thoughts gave birth to vision while our work give life to it.
Character; character distinguished a man; great men are distinguished by their characters. character is an intrinsic ability that magnet opportunity and consolidate one on an enviable social stratum. Genius men are admired, wealthy men are envied, powerful men are feared, men of integrity are trusted , men of character are respected and recommendable. What category do you belong?. We build character by patient and endurance. Great men understand the importance of character so they build it, ordinary people don't. One of the virtue that set a man aside for positive attraction is character. Character build and lifted up, character attract great men to yourself, character breed trust and loyalty. Try it out; build one today and you will be glad you did.
Discipline; a self impose rules regulating one mode of behaviour. It is one of the essential ingredient that make great men great. it remain one of life best teacher that get one committed to a desired objectives. Great men are disciplined people, they don't live the way others live, they don't talk anyhow, you hardly see them drunk, they don't talk anyhow, they don't dress anyhow, they are committed to their dreams, they are men of admired virtue. Be disciplined enough to stay committed to your dreams, plans, goals and vision. If you are discipline enough to make a difference, you are just right there on your way to making it. A disciplined man promotes leadership by example. I encourage you to be discipline, to be disciplined enough to fulfill your purpose and goal.
Principle; A moral rules or a strong belief that influences your action: Principle is like a guide, like a road map for the safari. A steadfast commitment to your principle set you aside from ordinary men. Every great man has a set of certain principle that guide their do and don't. Principles regulate conduct; it guides one from going astray. We can't just live anyhow; we cannot keep appearing in all places: Smoking this; drinking that, what value does these action earn us. Our life worth more than just living anyhow. Check the life of great men and powerful men around you, you will see something that distinguished them from others. Principles set great men aside, a commitment to it; is the result of what they are enjoying today. Principle remains one of life natural facts, little wonder; life offer to no one good thing on a platter of Gold. One must labour vigorously under the guide of principle and God divine guidance before anything can be achieved. A man without principle is likened to a wanderer gallivanting the wood like a safari without road map. Principle is like a narrow channel leading all the way to success. Make one for yourself today and sooner than later you shall begin to reap the fruit of it.
Self will; a man will is like a catalyst that rejuvenate man to fulfillment. No man can be great whose self will is weak. The self will of a man is fundamental to fulfillment of purpose and dreams. Desire something great, build the courage to go for it. Our self will is powerful; it gives life to a rejuvenating spirit in us. Self will is powerful, set one today if you don't have any.
Other cardinals are determination and courage. This two essential ingredients are crucial to succeeding against all odds.
Conclusion, Achieving success against all impediment demands that you work tenaciously, rigorously, smartly and resiliently. Raise your head high and say to yourself: I will be celebrated, I am a success and i am going to be great and then, go for it. Raise your target, raise it a bit higher than where you set it. look beyond your circumstances, look beyond your family limitations, gaze a little higher than where you stand. You may have been born poor but you are not made to be poor. Many of us wonder why we are born into the family we belong but we never chose these families. Complaining about our presence in these families is absolutely unnecessary. There is something in Us God has deposited in us that will make us great despite the challenges we think our background posed. Our family is never a threat to our destiny; we determined what is threat to us. Many even questioned and ask why they are in the family they are? They often say, why can't I be in president Buharis family? Some will also say I should be in Dangotes family, I wish Goodluck Jonathan is my father... stop wishing and create your future. I want to remind you today that all these men didn't become what they are by the virtue of their family of birth. They simply create their future out of resources God gave to them, You have yours lie latent in you, desire to mine it and use it for your own advancement. Stop complaining of the bad around you! If you don't like the bad you see, the best thing to do is to create the better you desire. Now that we are young: this is the time to work, time to learn, time to read, time to get up and read that book. We are in our planting season don't be an onlooker during the time of harvest.
Invest your efforts, your time and your resources in something profiting so that you can enjoy a beautiful future. You are born at a time like this to add a meaningful impact to the moment. . Don't join the bandwagon that says it is impossible to make an impact. You are born in this country not just to increase her population but to make it better. Don't allow your environment to influences you but rather influence your environment. You have a dominant gene, the power to outshine is in you. Don't join the people that talk more about problems but pay little attention to solutions. Don't be a problem talker but be a solution provider. You are borne into that family to make an impact and you are in this country to make it great. Dig deep down your mind There is something in you that is crying for expression, give it a voice. you are not just another being wandering the surface of the earth, you are God most fearfully and thoroughly made creature. The seed of greatness is buried in the minds of individual, therein; in your minds are acre of diamonds... What are you waiting for,mine your gold!. Instigate that latent talent, that may be something that will set you at the centre of your own world. You are not an empty vessel. You are a container full of life most wanted resources. Are you going to sit back and mourn over your background? are you going to allow your background to knock you to the ground? The world awaits the manifestation of your glory. Don't deprive them of the opportunity; don't cheat yourself of the blessings and excitement of success. Class room education is not enough, open up yourself to real life education. Keep dreaming, continue visualizing, keep planning and keep skating through the highway of success until you make your family proud and your country great. Great people make Great Britain great, it is great people that will make Nigeria great: you are one of them. The poorest man on earth is a man with money; without vision. If you can visualise it, you can become it, if only you can work towards its fulfillment.
