‎CETM College of Theology Announces the Appointment of Professor Joshua Malit Deya as Principal Lecturer

‎Benin City, Nigeria — CETM College of Theology is pleased to announce the appointment of Professor Joshua Malit Deya as Principal Lecturer in the Department of Christian Philosophy, under the School of Philosophy & Religion.

‎The appointment was formally approved by the College Director of Finance & Personnel, Ms. Nneka Okuchukwu, through the Office of the College Provost, Rev. Dr. Kenneth Kabba.
‎
‎Professor Joshua Malit Deya, a national of Kenya, joins CETM College of Theology with distinguished academic and leadership credentials. Prior to this appointment, he served as a Full Professor of Religious Leadership & Management at Dominion Mission Theological University, Ghana, where he played significant roles in teaching, leadership, and administration.

‎Professor Joshua also holds a Doctor of Philosophy (PhD) in Church Administration & Management from Dominion Mission Theological University, Ghana.

‎The College President, Professor Chukwuemeka Egberase, expressed confidence that Professor Joshua’s extensive experience and academic excellence will make a meaningful contribution to the College’s mission, particularly in strengthening both teaching and advisory engagements within the Department of Christian Philosophy.

Dear Advisors, Instructors, and Esteemed Students,

It is with great pleasure that I warmly welcome you all to the Spring Semester 2026. We are grateful to God for guiding us successfully into a new academic season of learning, growth, and excellence.

The Spring Semester has officially commenced with the publication of the Returning Students List along with the names of their respective Advisors. In line with this, the College President, *Professor Chukwuemeka Egberase, has directed the College Provost, Rev. (Dr.) Kenneth Kabba, to convene an Academic Board Meeting on Saturday, 22 November 2025.
The purpose of this meeting is to *review and strengthen Academic Operations for Spring 2026.The College Provost has already circulated the meeting notice to all Directors and Academic Staff in compliance with the President’s directive.

By the close of business today, Thursday, 20 November 2025, the Office of the College President will ensure that all students are formally connected to their respective Advisors to foster smooth communication and an effective Student–Advisor relationship throughout the semester.

Next week, the Students Orientation Committee, chaired by the College Deputy President, Dr. Simao Domingos Sebastiao, will conduct a Comprehensive Student Orientation Program.This program is designed to inform students of their academic responsibilities for the Spring Semester and to promote synergy and constructive dialogue between students and their Advisors.

The College President is highly encouraged by the remarkable progress the institution continues to make. He extends his heartfelt appreciation to the College Provost, all Principal Officers, and the entire Academic Staff for their unwavering dedication, hard work, and commitment to excellence.

To our dear students: we urge you to uphold the highest academic standards, adhere to all deadlines, and pursue excellence in your studies. Your success remains our priority.

We are very happy to be back on the cyberspace nearly after 2years of taking down our former domain website and now back online.

This first stage is part of our college commitment in pursuing a College Digitalization Project and we have earmark a 10million naira to cover the total Digitalization of our college.

Having being able to get the first stage of the digitalization project excellently right, we are going to begin with the second stage of Digitalization, and the project is about four stages.

OFFICIAL ANNOUNCEMENT: CONCLUSION OF THE FALL SEMESTER 2025 AND COMMENCEMENT OF THE SPRING SEMESTER 2026

Dear Directors, Academic Staff, and Advisors,

It is with great pleasure that I inform you that the Fall Semester 2025 will officially conclude on Monday, November 17, 2025, and the Spring Semester 2026 will commence on Thursday, November 20, 2025.

After careful evaluation and consultation with the Deputy President, Dr. Simão Domingos Sebastião, the Office of the College President is officially announcing the end of our former “Personal Student–Advisor Distance Learning Model”, which allowed advisors to supervise and engage students directly through WhatsApp class discussions.

While this model proved effective in fostering close student–advisor relationships, it also presented certain limitations, particularly in structured academic monitoring and assessment consistency.

New Distance Learning Model

Beginning with the Spring Semester 2026, the College will implement a revised distance learning structure designed to strengthen academic quality and accountability. The new system introduces a clear distinction between the roles of Instructors and Advisors:

Instructors will now facilitate all class discussions, assign coursework, and grade student assignments.

Advisors will focus primarily on supervising students’ Course Seminars and Dissertation Writing, offering academic and research guidance.

The Office of the College President will continue to oversee and administer all course examinations at the end of each module.

Important Dates and Activities

Tuesday, November 18, 2025: Publication of the official list of new and returning students, along with their assigned advisors.

Saturday, November 22, 2025: Academic Board Meeting to review academic operations for the upcoming semester.

Monday, November 24, 2025: Release of the Course Module Timetable, including the names of assigned instructors for each course.

Closing Remarks

I extend my heartfelt appreciation to all members of our academic community for their unwavering commitment to excellence and innovation. To our students, we commend your resilience and determination to meet academic deadlines and uphold the standards of CETM College of Theology.

As we bring the Fall Semester 2025 to a close, I urge every academic staff member and student to prepare diligently for a productive and rewarding Spring Semester 2026.

I am glad to officially announced to you students and Alumni, that the College Pro Chancellor through the Director of Finance & Personnel, Nneka Okuchukwu has approved the elevation of Dr Simao Domingos Sebastiao, PhD as the new College Deputy President, in Charge of Distance Learning Academic Planning & Students Recruiting. Dr Simao until his appointment was formally Dean of Students Affairs and he excelled greatly in his position as Dean, hence the meritorious elevation.

Dr Simao Domingos Sebastiao who is an Alumni of the college, was first employed in May 2024 to the rank of Lecturer II, in the Department of Christian Philosophy at the School of Philosophy & Religion of the College, and later promoted to Senior Lecturer in May 2025. He was formally Coordinator, in what was formally known as CENTER FOR HIGHER STUDIES IN DISTANCE LEARNING, in May 2024, before he was made Dean of Students Affairs in May 2025.

With the current effort at decentralizing the Office of College President, that, Professor Chukwuemeka Egberase CTN, recommended for Dr Simao Domingos Sebastiao be redeployed to the Office of College President as College Deputy President, and was unanimously approved by CETM Vice President, Prophetess Dr Lucy Seibatu Johnny who also is the College Deputy Provost-Administration; and all principal officers, due to his satisfactory performance!

Dr Simao Domingos Sebastiao is an Angolan National, a pastor at Seventh Day Adventist, a father and a husband, and a gentleman with charm smiles and is willing to accept corrections.

We are confident and know that he will perform greatly in his new role as College Deputy President.
