ODFeL DIRECTORATE HOLDS STRATEGIC CONSULTATION WITH SCHOOL OF MANAGEMENT SCIENCES LEADERSHIP

On Friday, 8th May 2026, the Director of Open, Distance, Flexible and e-Learning (ODFeL), Mal. Mohammed Auwal Abdullahi, led a courtesy visit to the Dean of the School of Management Sciences, Dr. Mohammed Lawal Inuwa, at Federal Polytechnic Bauchi.

The delegation was warmly received by Dr. Inuwa alongside all Heads of Departments in the School. The visit forms part of ongoing strategic engagements and consultations as the institution prepares for the forthcoming accreditation exercise and the anticipated commencement of the ODFeL programme.

This collaboration when actualised will highlight the Polytechnic's proactive approach to integrating open, distance, flexible, and e-learning modalities into its academic offerings. It aims to enhance access to quality education, particularly for students seeking flexible study options amid evolving educational demands.

Discussions focused on alignment between the School's programmes and ODFeL initiatives, ensuring seamless integration and compliance with national accreditation standards.

Mal. Ahmadu Maidorawa is No More!

We received the shocking news of the death of Mal. Ahmadu Maidorawa as a result of a motorbike accident along ATBU Gubi campus road.

His janaza has been scheduled for today at their family house at Unguwar Bauchin Bauchi by 5:30pm.

Maidorawa, a former Head of Department of Computer Science and the immediate past Dean of School of Science and Technology, was until his death this afternoon the Deputy Director ICT Geospatial Centre of the Polytechnic.

May Allah forgive and admit him to Janna and give his family, colleagues and students comfort.

FPTB ALUMNI DONATES SPORTS GEAR TO THE POLYTECHNIC

On Friday, April 17, 2026, the sunlit grounds of Federal Polytechnic Bauchi buzzed with gratitude and camaraderie as the National Leadership of the Federal Polytechnic Bauchi Alumni Association made a heartfelt return to their alma mater. In a gesture that embodied the unbreakable bond between past and present, they donated a suite of essential sports gear to the Polytechnic's Management, presented to Deputy Rector Dr. Dalhatu Sa'idu Abubakar, who stood in for the Rector.

The thoughtful shipment included one complete set of jerseys for the Polytechnic's spirited football team, two sets of sleeveless training shirts, agility cones, and sleek coaches' track suits, which are tools to elevate training sessions and fuel victories on the field.

Leading the presentation, National President Engr. Mansur Muhammad Usman shared the association's vision with pride. "This donation is just one thread in the tapestry of interventions we've woven for the institution that shaped us," he said. He reaffirmed their unwavering commitment to step in wherever needs arise, strengthening the legacy they all cherish.

Dr. Dalhatu Sa'idu Abubakar received the items with deep appreciation, reflecting on the alumni association's track record of generosity. "This is yet another shining example," he noted, recalling past contributions like the refurbishment of the Polytechnic gate and donations of computers, printers, and photocopying machines to the Academic Registry. He urged the association to keep the momentum alive, reaching out to alumni scattered far and wide to build an even stronger network.

PICTORIAL PRESENTATION OF SUG OFFICIALS VISIT TO THE MANAGEMENT
The newly elected officials of the Students Union Government (SUG) were presented to the Management today.
The Rector, Alh. Sani Usman congratulated the students leadership and urged them work hard in hand with the management with a view to addressing the most needed facilities for conducive learning.
He said, the Management is making concerted effort to address the hostel accommodation challenges as constructions of males and females hostels are ongoing within the Polytechnic.
He assured them of the management's unflinching support and cooperation throughout their tenure.
The Dean, Students Affairs of the Polytechnic, Dr. Muhammad Uwais presented the EXCO.
The SUG President, Comrade Mustapha Idris Abubakar said the students welfare is his major priority.

FPTB USHERS IN NEW ERA WITH TRIUMPHANT SUG ELECTION AFTER 22-YEAR HIATUS

In a momentous return to student democracy, the Federal Polytechnic Bauchi has successfully conducted elections for the Students' Union Government (SUG) executives, marking the first such poll in 22 years since 2004. This election signals a renewed commitment to fostering a vibrant, inclusive campus community for the 2025/2026 academic session.

The elections, previously suspended due to disruptions by suspected cultists, were revived following a thorough appraisal of the student body, social dynamics, and academic environment. The process unfolded seamlessly under the watchful eye of the Students' Affairs Division, ensuring fairness and transparency that earned widespread acclaim.

The newly elected executives, poised to champion students' welfare and initiatives, are:
1. President: Idris Mustapha Abubakar
2. Vice President: Peace Sunday Nikki
3. Secretary General: Chung Weng Dauda
4. Treasurer: Idris Sani Yunus
5. Financial Secretary: Jacob Ezekiel Ojochegbe
6. Welfare Director: Jimoh Abdullateef
7. Assistant Secretary General: Solomon James
8. Welfare Director II: Hassan Muhammad Kabir
9. PRO I: Aliyu Mubarak Saeed
10. PRO II: Iyanda Rhoda Oluwatoyin

In his acceptance speech, President Idris Usman pledged inclusive leadership: "We will carry everyone along and work hand in hand with Polytechnic Management to ensure all student needs are adequately met."

Registrar of the Polytechnic, Alh. Kasimu Salihu, who witnessed the proceedings, commended the Students' Affairs Division for their exemplary organisation. He reaffirmed the institution's dedication to student welfare, promising enhanced packages and a conducive learning environment. "Management operates an open-door policy," he emphasised, urging the new leaders to embrace their roles with diligence and engage in constructive dialogue.

The ceremony reached its peak with Barrister Bilkisu Lami Jimoh administering the oath of office to the executives.

This historic election not only revives student governance but also strengthens the bond between leadership and the student populace, promising a brighter future for all in Polytechnic.
