DEMOCRACY DAY HOLIDAY

The Vice Chancellor, Plateau State University, Bokkos, has approved the suspension of all administrative and academic activities on Friday, June 12, 2026, in observance of Democracy Day, in line with the Federal Government’s declaration of a public holiday.

Normal work and academic activities will resume on Monday, June 15, 2026.

On behalf of the Governing Council, Senate and Management, the Vice-Chancellor wishes all staff, students, and partners of the University a happy Democracy Day celebration. The Vice Chancellor urges all staff and students to use this period to reflect on the gains of Nigeria’s democracy over the past two decades and to continue praying for its sustenance.

The Vice Chancellor particularly enjoins final year students — who have just concluded their examinations — to use this period to learn about and identify ways to contribute to the growth of the University and the nation at large, leveraging the skills and knowledge acquired during their four years of study at Plateau State University.

Plateau State University remains dedicated to fostering an inclusive academic community, with current enrollment representing all states of the federation and the FCT, with the exception of Sokoto and Zamfara. This is due to the absence of applicants from those states since the commencement of academic activities.
The Vice Chancellor, Professor Shedrack Best, has reiterated the University’s commitment to equal opportunity and encourages qualified candidates from all backgrounds, including Sokoto and Zamfara, to apply.

PLASU VC Visits International Dairy Company to Forge Partnerships, Acquire Cows for Agric Faculty

The Vice Chancellor of Plateau State University, Bokkos, Professor Shedrack Gaya Best, has embarked on a working visit to Oyo State to explore strategic partnerships aimed at expanding the University’s Faculty of Agriculture.

Accompanied by the Dean of Agriculture, Associate Professor Hosea Finangwai, Prof. Best met with experts in the dairy industry to identify opportunities that will benefit PLASU’s agricultural programmes. A key focus of the visit is a potential partnership with Milkin Barn Agro Services Ltd, which includes the acquisition of dairy cows for the PLASU Dairy Farm and broader collaborations to strengthen the Faculty of Agriculture.

Milkin Barn Agro Services Ltd is a fully mechanized dairy farm located in the Fasola Agribusiness Hub, Oyo State.

The company specializes in rearing exotic Holstein heifers and crossbreeding local stock to produce pedigree dairy cattle. Its operations also include commercial pasture production for grain farming, hay making, and pasture seed multiplication, as well as feed milling for on-farm use and sales to smallholder farms in the area.

During the visit on June 9, Prof. Best and his team were conducted around the company’s facilities by Engr. Namo, Resident Equipment and Facility Manager. The tour provided the PLASU delegation with firsthand insight into the company’s operations and the potential benefits of the proposed partnership for the University.

PLATEAU STATE UNIVERSITY, BOKKOS CONDOLES WITH FAMILY OF LATE ACP SYLVANUS DANLADI MASHAT(RTD)

The Chairman, Governing Council, Plateau State University Bokkos, *Prof. Barnabas Williams, OFR*, led a high-powered delegation of the University to condole with the family of the late Chief Security Officer, ACP SYLVANUS Danladi Mashat rtd, who transited to glory on Wednesday, 3rd June 2026.

In heartfelt condolences, the Governing Council Chairman described the late University CSO as hardworking and selfless. He urged the family to take solace in God and accept what happened as His will.

In his remarks, the Vice Chancellor, Plateau State University, Bokkos, *Prof. Shedrack Best*, described the late CSO as proactive, consistent, and full of energy. He said his passing has thrown the entire university community into mourning. He assured the family and the Butura nation that the university stands with them at this difficult time, adding that the late CSO lived a fulfilled life of purpose.

Responding on behalf of the family, *Mr. John Makop* appreciated the entire Plateau State University for the visit, saying the family is comforted by the show of love and solidarity.

The delegation comprised members of the Governing Council, Deputy Vice-Chancellors, the Registrar, University Librarian, Bursar, and the Head of Administration in the Office of the Vice Chancellor.
