Before 2026 JAMB registration begins, get these 8 things ready🪵
👉🏻The 2026 UTME/DE registration will begin in January. Now is the time to get ready! Early preparation is key to ensuring a smooth registration and increasing your chances of success in the exam
1. Get Your National Identification Number (NIN):

The NIN is now a mandatory requirement for UTME/DE registration. If you don’t have yours yet, we strongly recommend you obtain it as soon as possible.

2. Ensure You Have a Registered Phone Number for Profile Code Creation:

Before registering, you will need to generate a profile code by sending your NIN via a registered phone number to a shortcode provided by JAMB. Make sure you have a valid, registered phone number for this process. All future SMS updates from JAMB will be sent to this number, so ensure it's your personal number.

3. Set Up a Free Email Address:
Your email address serves as a backup for your JAMB profile in case you lose access to your phone number. It is mandatory to provide an email address during registration. Setting up an email is quick and free. We recommend using Gmail, which can be easily accessed at gmail.com.

4. Decide on the Course You Want to Study:
Now is the best time to choose the course you want to pursue. This decision requires thoughtful consideration, so don’t wait until the last minute. Choose a course you are passionate about and have the academic aptitude for. Be sure to have a second-choice course in mind, as this can improve your chances of admission.
5. Choose the School You Want to Apply to:
Similarly, decide which school you intend to apply to before registration begins. Consider factors such as whether the institution offers your desired course, the admission requirements, school fees, and location. For a higher chance of success, consider having a backup option such as a polytechnic or college of education because they will be required while filling your JAMB registration form.
6. Know Your Subject Combination:
Each course has a specific set of subjects required for admission. It's essential to select the correct subject combination for your chosen course and institution. Many students make the mistake of choosing the wrong subjects, which can jeopardize their chances of admission. Use the JAMB Brochure to verify the correct subject combination before registration begins.
7. Seek Guidance if Needed’:
If you are unsure about your choice of course, institution, or subject combination, don’t hesitate to ask for guidance. You can use the "Ask a Question" section on our website, where a community of experts will provide helpful answers. Alternatively, join our JAMB WhatsApp group to get instant advice and answers to your questions.
8. Start Preparing for the Exam:
Start your study preparations now. Remember, it’s not just about studying hard; it’s about studying smart. Many questions in the UTME are repeated from past exams, so practicing past questions is crucial.

đźš« 5 Reasons Children Should NOT Have Android Phones Before Age 16

1. Exposure to Harmful Content

Phones give instant access to the internet, where children can easily stumble on po*******hy, violence, fraud sites, and inappropriate social media trends that damage their moral and mental development.

2. Academic Distraction

Phones cause addiction to games, TikTok, YouTube, and social media. Many children with phones struggle to focus, perform poorly in school, or lose interest in reading, homework, and learning.

3. Increased Risk of Cyberbullying and Online Predators

Children do not have the emotional maturity to handle online insults, peer pressure, or manipulation by strangers. Phones expose them to cyberbullying, sexting, and predators pretending to be friends.

4. Improper Use of Social Media

Social media creates pressure to appear “trendy,” leading some children into lies, comparison, immorality, and early relationships. It can shape their values negatively before they even understand themselves.

5. Financial and Security Risks

Children are easily deceived by scammers. In Nigeria especially, fraudsters use fake calls, links, or WhatsApp messages to lure or exploit them.
Also, young children carrying flashy phones can attract theft or physical harm.
