A Historical Analysis of the Midbelt Region (Proposed Diocese of Ihugh)
The Midbelt Region, comprising Benue, Cross River, and Taraba States, has a distinct history. Benue State boasts a stronger presence of ministers and churches. The central region has been pivotal since the region's inception. On April 5, 2015, Presiding Bishop Rt. Rev. Raphael Fagbohun (Ph.D.) ordained the first priests: Rt. Rev. Msgr. Levi Terkula Tyo-Abuul, Very Rev. Fr. David Ocheku, and Msgr. Okoh Michael. Fr. Cleopas Gesa launched the first church in his family compound in 2018, emphasizing biblical teachings and revival.
The ordination of three priests, followed by the appointment of Msgr. Levi Terkula Tyo-Abuul as Administrator and Fr. Nicodemus as his assistant, has propelled the church's growth in Benue State. This expansion has led to the establishment of new parishes in Tsé Abuul Ushongu LGA, Ihugh Vandekya LGA, and other areas. subsequent ordinations, including Fr. Marcel Katina, contributing to the region's reinvigorated commitment to the church's mandate.
In the Middle-Belt region, the proposed Diocese of Ihugh is a church in progress, despite encountering various hurdles such as limited transportation and financial constraints. Nonetheless, the church's mission and vision continue to advance.
