THIS LIFE IS LIKE PAWPAW — WHEN IT RIPE, IT FALLS
Life is like pawpaw—when it ripens, it falls. No matter how high the tree, no matter how firm the branch, once the fruit is ready, it must come down. So it is with life—when a person has fulfilled their time, no matter their strength, power, or position, they return to the earth.
The pawpaw does not fall in anger or haste. It ripens gently—day by day, touched by sun and rain, becoming soft, sweet, and golden. That is how we live—growing through seasons of learning, love, struggle, and joy. Every experience is like sunshine on the fruit, preparing us for our purpose.
But when the pawpaw becomes fully ripe, it can no longer hold on. It lets go, not out of weakness, but because its time has come. Life teaches us that no one stays forever. The old fall like ripe pawpaw, leaving behind memories, seeds of wisdom, and the fragrance of a life once lived.
Even a strong wind cannot shake a green pawpaw—just like death does not take us until our season arrives. But once we are ripe in God’s timing, we fall—not as a failure, but as a fulfilled purpose.
And when the pawpaw falls, it does not disappear. If left in the right soil, its seeds grow again. In the same way, a meaningful life, though ended, can give birth to legacies, dreams, and blessings for others.
So let us live wisely, ripening with grace, preparing for that final fall—not in fear, but in fulfillment, knowing that even in falling, there is fruitfulness.
