Dr Idowu Olawoye, our Module Lead for Understanding Genomic Data, is an award-winning Nigerian Canadian microbiologist and bioinformatician. His research focuses on the use of AI and genomic sequencing in tackling antimicrobial resistance in pathogens such as tuberculous and non-tuberculous mycobacteria🧫.
He specialises in the computational analysis of genomic and epidemiological data and has directly supported public health responses to outbreaks through his work, including contributing to Africa's first whole-genome sequencing of SARS-CoV-2 in 2020.
