THE DEPARTMENT OF DENTAL HEALTH SCIENCES was created in the year 2012 following by the lack of DENTAL HEALTH PERSONNEL in the state, also looking towards how the urban and most likely rural settlers within the state suffers from oral health problems and also to generate awareness among community members about oral health. The present HEAD OF THE DEPARTMENT (RDTH MALAM SHU'AIBU ALKASSIM KIRI) had a
dream of initiating such course, he wrote a proposal to Honourable Commissioner Ministry Of Health Jigawa State (Ophthalmologist TAFIDA ABUBAKAR) through the Office of the Director of the School (ALHAJI TIJJANI USMAN NAGADO HADEJIA). By so doing the commissioner develop the passion and courage to initiate that course in the school. The department started with just 28 students, starting their first lecture on tuesday 4th December, 2012 around 2:00pm as evening class. Prior to the accreditation of the department, the state government equipped the department with two brand new Dental Chairs, Instrument Kits, Consumable Dental Material and many more for the practical aspect of the study. It was on Monday 24th February, 2014 that the register of DTRBN and her cabinet visit the school for the accreditation of the department. The school had host its first induction ceremony organized yearly by the DTRBN for the issuence of the graduant on that very year. It was on June 2015 that the induction ceremony held at school library. Presently the department has three consecutive sets with an approximate number of over 100 students. Among of the major achievement of the department is that, the department was accredited successfully, hosting induction ceremony and last but the least the pioneer set will sat for BOARD EXAM in the year 2015.
