Tazkiyah University Kaduna Holds Historic First Matriculation Ceremony
Tazkiyah University, Kaduna, marked a significant milestone on Saturday, April 18, 2026, as it held its maiden matriculation ceremony, formally admitting its pioneer students for the 2025/2026 academic session. The event, which took place at the University Multipurpose Hall, saw a total of 120 students enrolled into various academic programmes.
The ceremony attracted an array of distinguished guests, including His Royal Highness, Alhaji Ahmad Nuhu Bamalli, who was represented by Alhaji Musa Ibrahim Bamalli. Also in attendance were the Proprietor, Prof. Ibrahim Ahmad Maqari, members of the Board of Trustees, the Vice-Chancellor, Prof. Faruk Sarkinfada, as well as members of the University Management and other notable personalities.
Delivering the opening remarks, the Registrar, Alhaji Bashir Abubakar, described matriculation as a foundational academic tradition that formally recognizes students as legitimate members of the university community, entitled to its rights and bound by its regulations.
The Vice-Chancellor, Prof. Faruk Sarkinfada, who presided over the ceremony, officially declared the event open and administered the matriculation oath to the students. The newly admitted students were drawn from three foundational faculties—Allied Health Sciences, Computing, and Management and Social Sciences—covering twelve academic programmes.
In his address, the Vice-Chancellor outlined the vision behind the establishment of the university, emphasizing its commitment to providing a secure and supportive environment for women’s education. He noted that empowering women academically serves as a powerful driver for societal growth and national development. He further highlighted the institution’s special focus on supporting orphaned girls, explaining that any profits generated would be channeled towards their education.
He also underscored the university’s dedication to promoting unity and peaceful coexistence, noting that the pioneer cohort reflects diversity, with both Muslim and Christian students studying together in harmony.
In his keynote address, the Proprietor, Prof. Ibrahim Ahmad Maqari, expressed deep gratitude to all individuals who contributed to bringing the university to life—from its conceptual stage through accreditation, infrastructure development, and staff recruitment. He described the journey as one that demanded perseverance, faith, and unwavering commitment.
Addressing the students, he urged them to remain disciplined, focused, and respectful, encouraging them to adhere strictly to the university’s rules and values. He also reassured parents and guardians of the institution’s dedication to nurturing students not only academically, but also morally and socially within a safe and value-driven environment.
Prof. Maqari further commended the academic and non-academic staff for their role in laying a strong foundation for excellence, integrity, and innovation within the university.
In his remarks, the Emir of Zazzau, represented by Alhaji Musa Ibrahim Bamalli, praised the establishment of the university as a visionary initiative and pledged the continued support of the Zazzau Emirate Council.
The ceremony concluded with a vote of thanks by Prof. Yahuza Suleiman, Registrar of the National Board for Arabic and Islamic Studies (NBAIS) and a member of the University’s Board of Trustees, who expressed appreciation to all attendees for their presence and support.
