HISTORY STILL REMEMBERS
Allah says in Surah Yunus, Aya 92:
"Today We will preserve your body so that you may be a sign for those after you."
Allah preserved Fir‘aun’s co**se as an eternal sign that tyranny will fall, and truth will rise.
Authentically related in Sahih Muslim, 1130:
Ibn Abbas reported: The Prophet ﷺ came to Madinah and found the Jews fasting on the day of 'Ashura. He said, "We have more right to Musa than you." So he fasted on that day and commanded it be fasted.
Above we see the significance of the day of ‘Ashura (10th), not only as a special day for fasting, but a remembrance of truth’s triumph.
Imagine a mighty tyrant standing tall on a dry path between walls of water, mocking the weak and certain of his power. But suddenly, the sea collapses, not just drowning a man, but burying generations of arrogance. At the same moment, the oppressed walk through on dry ground, lifted by Allah's assistance. This is the story of truth outliving falsehood.
The month of Muharram carries the echo of a defining moment in history, when Allah sank falsehood beneath the waves and carried truth to safety. Fasting on ‘Ashura isn’t mere tradition, it’s a badge of allegiance to Allah's justice, a yearly reminder that no matter how long falsehood reigns, it will never outlast the truth.
