EID-EL-KABIR MESSAGE FROM THE ACTING PROVOST OF AMINU KANO COLLEGE OF ISLAMIC AND LEGAL STUDIES, KANO

On behalf of the Management, staff, and students of Aminu Kano College of Islamic and Legal Studies (AKCILS), Kano, I warmly felicitate with the Management, Staff ,Students and entire Muslim Ummah on the occasion of this year’s Eid-el-Kabir celebration.

Eid-el-Kabir symbolizes sacrifice, obedience, patience,love,brotherhood,arms giving and total submission to the will of Almighty Allah.

It is therefore a period of sober reflection, compassion, unity, and renewed commitment to the values of peace, tolerance, and mutual understanding among the mankind.

As we celebrate this blessed festival, I urge members of the College community and the general public to continue to uphold the virtues of discipline, hard work, and peaceful coexistence for the progress of our society and the development of education.

I pray to Almighty Allah to accept our acts of worship and sacrifices, grants us abundant blessings, and shower our dear state and the nation at large with peace,progress, prosperity and security.Amin.

AKCILS CONDUCTS ARAFAT DAY PRAYER SESSION

The Acting Provost of the College Dr. Ali Tamasi Mu'az has yesterday led numerous staff of the College to conducting the annual Qur'anic recitation to commemorate "Arfat day " while saying prayers aimed at seeking Allah's devine blessings and mercies that besieges mankind on the day of Arfat.

In his remarks Dr. Tamasi expressed gratitude to Almighty Allah for sparing our lives to witness yet another day of Arfat and also for guiding the College to consider the Holy Qur'an recitation and prayers very expedient that day.

Dr. Tamasi prayed for a hitch -free, successful and acceptable Hajj conduct by our pilgrims and their safely return back to their respective destinations.

The Acting Provost also prayed for the College rapid progression, peace and harmony in the College,Kano State and Nigeria at large.

He also commended the staff for the impressive turn out at the prayer session.

AKCILS ACTING PROVOST LEADS SYMPATHY VISIT OVER LIBRARY INFERNO

The Acting Provost of Aminu Kano College of Islamic and Legal Studies (AKCILS), Dr. Ali Tamasi Mu’az, has led members of the College Management on a sympathy visit to Kano State Polytechnic following the recent inferno that razed the institution’s library complex.

Speaking during the visit, Dr. Ali Tamasi Mu’az expressed deep sorrow over the unfortunate incident, describing the library as a vital academic resource and an important centre for learning, research, and intellectual development within the institution.

The Acting Provost thanked Almighty Allah that no life was lost during the incident and commended the swift response of staff members and emergency personnel whose timely intervention helped contain the fire and prevent further destruction.

Dr. Ali Tamasi Mu’az assured the Polytechnic community of AKCILS Management’s commitment to supporting efforts aimed at restoring the affected facilities and strengthening safety mechanisms to prevent future occurrences. He also called on staff and students to remain calm, united, and prayerful during this difficult period.

The Acting Provost further appreciated the concern, prayers, and support received from individuals and organizations following the incident, noting that such gestures reflect the strong bond and solidarity enjoyed by the two institutions.

Responding, the Rector of the institution, Dr. Abubakar Umar Farouk, thanked the Acting Provost and the Management of the College for the sympathy visit. He appealed to the College and other well-meaning individuals and organizations to support the institution through the donation of books and other needed materials to enable the library recover quickly from the incident.

The Rector further assured that the library would soon be renovated and upgraded in line with modern academic and research demands.
According to him, “The Polytechnic and Aminu Kano College of Islamic and Legal Studies are one; as such, our doors will continue to remain open to one another.”

Members of the Management also expressed their sympathy to the Library Department and prayed for the quick restoration of the damaged facilities, while reaffirming their support towards ensuring uninterrupted academic activities.

CSU HOLDS GRADUATION CEREMONY FOR PROFESSIONAL DIPLOMA IN CRIMINOLOGY AND SECURITY STUDIES

The Directorate of Consultancy Services Unit of Aminu Kano College of Islamic and Legal Studies (AKCILS) has organized a graduation ceremony for participants of the Professional Diploma in Criminology and Security Studies programme.

Speaking at the occasion, the Acting Provost of the College, Dr. Ali Tamasi Mu’az, expressed appreciation to the lecturers and facilitators of the programme for dedicating their time, knowledge, and experience toward the successful training of the graduands.

Dr. Ali Tamasi Mu’az assured the graduates of the continued support and commitment of the College management toward the growth and sustainability of the programme. He also called on the graduands to support the institution by promoting and publicizing the programme to prospective candidates and relevant stakeholders.

The Acting Provost further disclosed that the College would liaise with the Directorate of Alumni Affairs to ensure that the graduates are officially registered as members of the College Alumni Association.

According to him, the Professional Diploma in Criminology and Security Studies, being the first programme of its kind in the College, attracted highly respected personalities from different sectors, a development he described as a milestone achievement for the institution.

He congratulated the graduands on the successful completion of their studies and urged them to utilize the knowledge and skills acquired in contributing to peace, security, and societal development.

A lead paper titled, “Path Towards a Just and Safer Society: Addressing Legal and Security Challenges in Kano,” was presented by Barr. Dija Isah Hashim, the Deputy Provost Administration of the College.

An eloquent speaker, Barr. Dija highlighted the importance of strengthening legal institutions, promoting community participation, and enhancing collaboration among stakeholders in addressing emerging security challenges and ensuring justice in society.

Earlier in his welcome address, the Director of the Consultancy Services Unit, Dr. Hassan Dauda, described the programme as timely and relevant in addressing contemporary security challenges in society.

He commended the College management for its support toward the successful conduct of the programme and congratulated the graduands for their dedication and perseverance throughout their period of study.

In her closing remarks, the Registrar and Chief Administrative Officer of the College, Hajiya Raliya Aliyu Abubakar, appreciated the guests, lecturers, and stakeholders for honoring the occasion. She also reaffirmed the commitment of the College toward sustaining academic excellence and professional development programmes.

The ceremony featured the presentation of certificates to the graduating students, alongside goodwill messages from invited guests, stakeholders, and well-wishers.

AKCILS ACTING PROVOST WARNS AGAINST RUSHING COURSE OUTLINES

The Acting Provost of Aminu Kano College of Islamic and Legal Studies, Dr. Ali Tamasi Mu’az, has declared that the College Management will no longer tolerate the practice of some lecturers rushing through course outlines within five to six weeks in a semester designed to last for fourteen weeks.

Dr. Tamasi made this known while receiving members of the Department of Psychology, who paid him a congratulatory visit at his office.

The Acting Provost stressed the importance of effective teaching and timely academic responsibilities, urging lecturers to give students adequate attention throughout the duration of the semester.

“Lecturers should thoroughly teach their students throughout the semester and avoid rushing course outlines within five or six weeks, as well as delaying the compilation of students’ results,” he stated.

Speaking on the timely marking of examination scripts and release of results, Dr. Tamasi said, “As I’m talking to you now, I have completed marking all my scripts and they are ready for submission, and you will now go back with them.”

He further urged all teaching staff of the College to strictly adhere to the institution’s rules and regulations, as well as the minimum standards set by the National Commission for Colleges of Education, in the discharge of their duties.

Dr. Tamasi also called on members of the Department of Psychology to support his administration by carrying out their responsibilities in line with the rules and regulations governing the College.

The Acting Provost expressed appreciation for the visit and assured the department of his continued commitment to academic activities despite the demands of his new assignment.

Earlier in her remarks, the Head of Department of Psychology, Maryam Bala Yahya, congratulated Dr. Ali Tamasi Mu’az on his appointment as Acting Provost. She noted that members of the department were particularly delighted that the new Acting Provost emerged from their department.

Members of the Department of Psychology also offered prayers for Allah’s guidance, wisdom, and success throughout his tenure in office.

AKCILS ACTING PROVOST REAFFIRMS COMMITMENT TO FAIRNESS AND EQUITY

The Acting Provost of Aminu Kano College of Islamic and Legal Studies, Dr. Ali Tamasi Mu’az, has reaffirmed his commitment to ensuring fairness, equity, and justice in the discharge of responsibilities in line with the rules and regulations governing the College.

Dr. Tamasi stated this while receiving members of the Kano State Tertiary Institutions Deputy Registrars’ Forum, who paid him a congratulatory visit and offered prayers following his appointment as Acting Provost of the College.

The Acting Provost stated that his administration would work with all members of staff without discrimination or favoritism, while pledging to reposition every sector of the institution through dedication, discipline, and strict adherence to due process.

He expressed appreciation to the forum for the visit and for the goodwill extended to his administration.

Speaking on behalf of the forum, the Chairman of the Forum and Director of Security Affairs of the College, Farouk Muhammad, said the purpose of the visit was to congratulate Dr. Ali Tamasi Mu’az on his appointment as Acting Provost and to pray for a successful tenure in office.

He noted that the appointment of Dr. Tamasi reflects his competence, dedication, administrative experience, and immense contributions to the growth and development of tertiary education in the state.

ALUMNI DIRECTORATE & ASSOCIATION CONGRATULATES AKCILS ACTING PROVOST

The Alumni Directorate and Alumni Association of Aminu Kano College of Islamic and Legal Studies(AKCILS) were among the prominent stakeholders who paid a congratulatory visit to the newly appointed Acting Provost of the College Dr. Ali Tamasi Mu'az, to wish him success in his new appointment.

The Acting Provost received the delegation yesterday during a brief occasion held at his office.

Speaking during the visit, Dr. Ali Tamasi Mu'az expressed his happiness and appreciation for the visit as well as the prayers and goodwill extended to him by the Alumni body.

The Acting Provost pledged to sustain the will and the legacy of the immediate past administration of the College by facilitating the construction of an ultra-modern edifice being the Alumni Directorate permanent building in recognition of its importance to the growth and development of the institution.

Dr. Tamasi further assured the delegation that the College management would allocate a 75 by 50 plot of land for the construction of the new Alumni Directorate building soon.

He also called on the executives of the College Alumni Association to mobilize their various Classes to support the College towards the successful ex*****on of the project.

Earlier in his remarks, the Director Alumni,Malam Aminu Sadi Gabari, congratulated the Acting Provost on his appointment and prayed for Allah’s devine guidance so as to be able to successfully discharge the onerous tasks responsibilities on moving the College forward.

Malam Sadi also informed the Acting Provost that one of the College Alumnus had pledged to provide 50 classroom seats in the College.

In his remarks, the National President of the AKCILS Alumni Association, Alhaji Garba Kabuga congratulated the Acting Provost and called on the staff and students of the College to continue praying for his confirmation as the substantive Provost of the institution.Malam Sadi describe him as one of the diligent and dedicated staff members of the College.

Among the highlight of the occasion was the presentation of a congratulatory letter to the Acting Provost by the Alumni Directorate.

PUBLIC ANNOUNCEMENT

The Management of Aminu Kano College of Islamic and Legal Studies (AKCILS) wishes to inform all prospective candidates, parents, guardians, and the entire College community that it has taken proactive measures in consonance with the recent Federal Government policy by the Joint Admission and Matriculation Board (JAMB), exempting NCE applicants seeking admission into Colleges of Education from writing JAMB examination.

In view of this development, the College Management is closely engaging with relevant authorities and stakeholders to ensure that prospective students are properly guided and that admission processes into the College remain smooth, transparent, and in line with federal government policy directives.

The Management therefore assures all interested candidates that necessary arrangements and clarifications will be communicated officially as soon as further directives are received from the appropriate authorities.

Prospective applicants and members of the public are advised to disregard rumours and rely only on official information released by the College Management through the approved communication channels.

AKCILS ACTING PROVOST MEETS STAKEHOLDERS, UNVEILS AGENDA

The Acting Provost of Aminu Kano College of Islamic and Legal Studies, Dr. Ali Tamasi Mu’az, has met with principal officers, deans, heads of departments, directors and other stakeholders of the institution, where he unveiled his agenda for the administration of the college.

The meeting, held at the Majidadin Kauran Katsina Conference Hall, focused on promoting inclusive leadership and improving service delivery within the institution. Addressing the gathering, Dr. Tamasi urged staff members to remain grateful to Allah for the opportunity given to one of their own to lead the college.

“I am part of you and you are part of me, like birds of the same nest,” the Acting Provost stated, while calling for unity, cooperation and collective commitment toward the growth of the institution.

Dr. Tamasi also reflected on his years of service in the college and expressed appreciation to the immediate past Provost, Prof. Jakada, for entrusting him with various responsibilities during his tenure.

According to him, he has chosen to move forward with an open mind since assuming office as Acting Provost. He further appealed to members of staff to forgive past grievances and work together in the interest of the college.

"I hold no grudge against anybody and I entrusted my self to you as your brother so accord me your support, cooperation,loyalty and close ranks together towards uplifting the College to greater heights"Dr Tamasi solicited.

The Acting Provost described the institution as strategically positioned within the state and beyond, expressing optimism about its future development. He therefore solicited the support and cooperation of all stakeholders to ensure the realization of the administration’s objectives within the shortest possible time.

Dr. Tamasi stressed the need for strict adherence to the rules and regulations guiding the college service, warning that acts of indolence would not be tolerated under his leadership.

He directed the Directorate of Academic Planning to ensure timely implementation of the academic calendar, adding that lecture timetables must henceforth be ready at least two weeks before the commencement of lectures, while course allocations should be concluded one week earlier. He also urged deans and directors to ensure compliance within their respective units.

The Acting Provost further assured that delays associated with project and teaching practice supervision would be addressed promptly. He also cautioned departments against forwarding incomplete results, noting that he would no longer preside over incomplete results during Academic Board meetings.

Dr. Tamasi additionally called on trade unions within the college to sustain cordial working relationships with management, prioritize members’ welfare and guide them appropriately where necessary.

In her remarks, the Deputy Provost (Administration), Barrister Dija Isa Hashim, emphasized the importance of sincerity, accountability and unity of purpose among staff members for the continued progress of the college.
“We all must remember that we shall be accountable before both man and God. All observations and suggestions made here have been noted and will be addressed. By Allah’s grace, we will not disappoint you,” she said.

MAJMA’U AHBABUS SHEIKH IBRAHIM INYASS CONGRATULATES ACTING PROVOST OF AKCILS

As part of the ongoing congratulatory visits, the Acting Provost of Aminu Kano College of Islamic and Legal Studies, Dr. Ali Tamasi Mu’az, today received members of Majma'u Ahbabus Sheikh Ibrahim Inyass during a courtesy and congratulatory visit at his office.

The gathering, which took place at the Provost’s office, was attended by prominent Islamic scholars, religious leaders, and executives of the association from both the national and Kano State chapters.

Speaking during the visit, the Acting Provost, Dr. Ali Tamasi Mu’az, expressed his gratitude to Almighty Allah for granting him the opportunity to lead the College.

He also appreciated the leadership of the association for the visit and their show of solidarity, noting that he still remains an active member of the organization and currently serves as its Organising Secretary.

In his remarks, the Chairman of Majma’u Ahbabus Sheikh Ibrahim Inyass, Kano State Chapter, Dr. Kabiru Barhama Salga, congratulated the Acting Provost on his appointment and described the development as a source of joy and pride to members of the Tijjaniyya movement.
Dr. Salga further stated that followers of the Tijjaniyya order across various zawiyyas expressed gratitude to Allah upon receiving the news of the Acting Provost’s appointment.

He also offered prayers for a successful tenure in office and assured the Acting Provost of continuous prayers and support from Tijjaniyya zawiyyas across the country.

Other groups and individuals, including the College Central Mosque Committee, School of General Education, Department of General Studies, traders within the College community, and several other associations, also paid congratulatory visits to the Acting Provost and wished him a successful and impactful tenure in office.
