University of Offa Seeks Health Training Collaboration as KW-HMB Inspects Facilities

The University of Offa (UNIOFFA), Kwara State has taken a significant step toward strengthening its health-related academic programmes with the inspection visit of the Kwara State Hospitals Management Board (KW-HMB).

The visit followed a formal request by the university’s management.

The management is optimistic that the visit will pave the way for further consultations and possible formal agreements that will enhance healthcare training, research, and service delivery in Kwara State.

The inspection team, led by the Executive Secretary of KW-HMB, Dr. Abdulraheem Malik, toured the university to assess its facilities and overall readiness for collaboration in the training of students enrolled in health and allied programmes.

The visit was aimed at determining the institution’s suitability for clinical postings and practical exposure within accredited state health facilities.

The move aligns with the broader vision of the Kwara State Government under the leadership of His Excellency, Mallam AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq, CON, which prioritises strong partnerships between tertiary institutions and government health agencies to enhance human capital development in the health sector.

During the inspection, the KW-HMB team examined critical infrastructure and learning resources required for effective teaching and hands-on training.

Dr. Malik noted that collaborations with institutions such as the University of Offa are crucial to improving the quality of healthcare education and addressing workforce needs within the state’s health system.

In response, the management of the University of Offa expressed appreciation to the KW-HMB for honouring the request and conducting the inspection.

The university reaffirmed its commitment to meeting all regulatory, academic, and professional standards required to ensure its students receive quality practical training in approved state health facilities.

UNIOFFA Holds Orientation For Fresh Students
...VC Harps On Skills, Entrepreneurship

The University of Offa (UNIOFFA), Kwara State, on Wednesday, February 4, 2025, held an orientation programme for 352 newly admitted students.

The students were charged to embrace skills acquisition and entrepreneurship alongside their academic pursuits.

The fresh students were admitted into the Faculty of Science and Computing, Faculty of Management and Social Sciences, and the Faculty of Education for various undergraduate programmes.

Departments under the Faculty of Science and Computing include Cyber Security, Computer Science, Software Engineering, Microbiology, and Physics with Electronics.

The Faculty of Management and Social Sciences has Accounting, Business Administration, Economics, Mass Communication, and Political Science, while the Faculty of Education offers Economics Education, Social Studies Education, and Vocational Education and Technical Education.

The Vice-Chancellor, Professor Kazeem Alagbe Gbolagade described their admission as a rare opportunity and assured them that the university’s management was committed to making them future-ready graduates rather than mere certificate holders in search of jobs.

He urged the students to draw inspiration from accomplished entrepreneurs such as Mrs. Funsho Alakija, Africa’s second richest woman, Africa’s richest man Alhaji Aliko Dangote, Mr. Tony Elumelu, CFR, and other accomplished entrepreneurs.

He said that their success stories were built largely on entrepreneurship, innovation and resilience, not certificates alone.

Prof. Gbolagade also stressed that the university has zero tolerance for any form of harassment, encouraging students to promptly report any such incidents.

He assured them of protection and fair handling of complaints.

President of the Students’ Representative Council (SRC), Comrade Awosanya Adeshina Oluwagbenga cautioned the fresh students against social vices such as cultism, alcoholism, drug abuse, examination malpractice and other negative behaviours capable of derailing their academic journey.

In a lecture, the Director of the Centre for Entrepreneurship Studies, Dr. Oluwaseun Oladeji enlightened the students on academic discipline and guided them on how to calculate their Grade Point Average (GPA), emphasizing the importance of consistent performance.

The orientation programme was attended by key principal officers and staff of the university, including the Registrar, Mr. Salaudeen Jibola Oyewale; Ag. Dean, Faculty of Science and Computing and Director of Academic Planning and Institutional Research, Dr. Abdulrazak Agboola Bello; Ag. Dean, Faculty of Management and Social Sciences, Dr. Pinheiro Oladimeji Simon; Coordinator of Student Affairs, Mr. Olaogun Fuhad Adedayo; Coordinator of Diploma Programme, Mr. Abiola Mohammed Usman; Mrs. Aminah Nike; and the SRC President, Comrade Awosanya.

Others in attendance were the Protocol Officer, Mr. Kadiri Oloso; the Varsity Orator and Mass Communication lecturer, Mr. Babatunde David Adebayo; and the Library Coordinator, Mr. Tajudeen Lateef.

The programme marked the formal integration of the new students into the university community and underscored UNIOFFA’s commitment to academic excellence, character building and entrepreneurial development.

My dear UNIOFFA Community,

The 4th Matriculation ceremony has come and gone with an excellent outing by University of Offa (UNIOFFA). We couldn't have done it alone without the effort, the sacrifice, the ideas, and the presence of everyone at all the activities leading to the successful Matriculation ceremony. We recorded a well attended programme that showcased UNIOFFA as an excellent and a promising institution.

I commend the ceremonials committee, led by our energetic Director of Academic Planning and Institutional Research, Dr. Abdulrasaq Bello for organising a befitting 4th Matriculation ceremony. I also appreciate the Founder, the Governing Council, the Senate, all staff and students of our great University. I sincerely look forward to more opportunities for us to showcase UNIOFFA.

UNIVERSITY OF OFFA HOLDS SUCCESSFUL 4TH MATRICULATION CEREMONY

The University of Offa has successfully held its Matriculation Ceremony for newly admitted students, marking the formal conclusion of activities for the 2025/2026 academic matriculation exercise.

The event took place at the University campus and brought together members of the University Management, academic and non-academic staff, dignitaries, parents, guardians, and students. It served as an opportunity to further orient the fresh students on academic expectations, institutional values, and campus life following their formal admission into the University.

Almost four hundred students were welcomed into the University of Offa on January 22, 2026, by the Vice-Chancellor, Prof. Kazeem Alagbe Gbolagade, an unprecedented feat in the institution's history since its inception, which the Vice-Chancellor made realistic within four months of assuming office.

Speaking at the ceremony, the Vice-Chancellor congratulated the students on their admission and urged them to pursue academic excellence with discipline and integrity. He reminded them that admission into the University comes with responsibilities, including strict adherence to the institution’s rules and regulations.

A key highlight of the ceremony was the administration of the Matriculation Oath by the Registrar, Mr. Jibola Oyewale, who led the students in pledging to abide by the statutes governing the University of Offa. The oath-taking formally bound the students to the authority and values of the institution.

The Registrar stressed that the oath was a solemn commitment and not just a ceremonial rite and advised the students to conduct themselves responsibly throughout their academic journey.

The ceremony also featured goodwill messages from the proprietor/funder of the University, Alhaji (Dr.) AbdulRasaq Oyewale, alongside sensitization talks on academic regulations, campus safety, and student welfare.

The University of Offa reaffirmed its commitment to providing quality education in a conducive learning environment aimed at producing responsible and well-grounded graduates who will contribute meaningfully to national development
