The royal fathers—His Royal Majesty, Oba Abdulrasheed Ayotunde Olabomi, the Aragbiji of Iragbiji, and His Royal Majesty, Oba Nurudeen Lawal, the Timi of Ede—are both highly distinguished alumni of our great institution. The historic visit was initiated and facilitated by Dr. Charles Omotayo, the Director of Advancement and Alumni Relations (DAAR). Reflecting the high importance of the initiative, the delegation featured top-tier University Management, including:
Prof. B.I. Popoola — Vice-Chancellor
Prof. Ireti Alao — Deputy Vice-Chancellor (DVC)
Dr. Arizo Akpokurerie — University Librarian
Other senior officials of the University.
Demonstrating the strong synergy between the institution and its graduate network, the Global President of the AFUED Alumni Association, Dr. Festus Olowogboyega, provided full logistical and leadership support, joining the delegation in Osogbo to lead the alumni front. The delegation’s first stop was the palace of the Aragbiji of Iragbiji, Oba Abdulrasheed Ayotunde Olabomi.
Oba Olabomi shares a deep, long-standing history with AFUED, having previously served as a valued member of the University Governing Council. He currently serves as the Chairman of the Governing Council of the Federal University of Agriculture, Abeokuta (FUNAAB).
The Aragbiji received the delegation with immense joy, offering a vibrant and premium royal reception. He praised the university's transition to a full-fledged Federal University of Education and expressed his unwavering commitment to supporting his alma mater's advancement goals.
Moving forward to the ancient town of Ede, the delegation was warmly received by the Timi of Ede, Oba Nurudeen Lawal. Visibly delighted and pleasantly surprised by the high caliber of the AFUED delegation, the Timi rolled out the red carpet for his academic home. In a unique gesture of royal hospitality, Oba Lawal personally led the Vice-Chancellor, the Alumni President, and the rest of the team on an exclusive tour of his historic palace grounds.
While expressing his deep pride in being an alumnus of Adeyemi, the Timi promised to reciprocate the honor by visiting the university campus in Ondo in the near future to further concrete partnerships.
Speaking on the successful tour, the Director of DAAR, Dr. Charles Omotayo, noted that building strong channels with highly placed alumni is essential for AFUED's next chapter of growth. The Global Alumni President, Dr. Festus Olowogboyega, echoed this sentiment, calling on all alumni worldwide to remain connected and invested in the university's rising profile.
