Appreciation Note to the Commandant, Operation Whirl Stroke, Makurdi, Benue State, Major Moses GARA.
On behalf of Agatu Indigenous Youth Association AIYA , we write to express our sincere appreciation for your timely intervention regarding the recent petition for the removal of the military commander in Agatu.
We acknowledge and commend your swift action in replacing the former commander with Major O. Christopher. This prompt response demonstrates that you take the security and complaints of the Agatu people seriously considering that the letter just got to you four days ago. While this does not fully address all the requests contained in our petition, it is a clear indication of your commitment to restoring lasting peace and stability in Agatu.
We also wish to recognize the efforts of our Local Government Chairman Hon. James Melvin Ejeh for following up on this matter. His involvement further assures us that the security and welfare of the Agatu people remain his priority.
We want to state clearly that we do not harbor any hatred toward the military. Our position has always been that the security of our people is non-negotiable. We are hopeful that under the leadership of the new commander, peace, trust, and cooperation will be strengthened between the military and the community in proper use of intelligence and total restoration of peace.
We pledge to continue monitoring the situation and to support all genuine efforts aimed at ensuring total peace is restored to Agatu. We urge you and your team to sustain this momentum until every concern raised in our petition is fully addressed.
Thank you, sir, for listening and acting decisively. We trust and hope that this marks the beginning of a new chapter of peace and security in Agatu.
Yours respectfully,
Signed;
Comr Ochokwunu Daniel Edor
