WHAT HINDERS A PERSON FROM GOD'S DIVINE ABUNDANCES:
" From a Christian perspective, divine abundance is a blessing from God, and while it is promised to believers, there are several things that are believed to hinder a person from receiving it. These hindrances are often related to a person's faith, obedience, and character.
Here are some of the key things that are widely taught to be barriers to God's divine abundance, based on biblical principles:
1. Lack of Faith and Unbelief
This is often cited as the primary hindrance. The Bible emphasizes that faith is a prerequisite for receiving from God.
Doubt and Unbelief: Not fully trusting God's promises can block a person from receiving them. The Israelites' unbelief in the wilderness, which led to them wandering for 40 years, is a classic biblical example (Hebrews 3:19).
Asking without Faith: James 1:6-7 says, "But let him ask in faith, with no doubting, for he who doubts is like a wave of the sea driven and tossed by the wind. For let not that man suppose that he will receive anything from the Lord."
2. Disobedience and Rebellion
Obedience is seen as a direct path to God's blessings.
Partial Obedience: The story of King Saul losing his kingdom because he only partially obeyed God's command is a powerful lesson (1 Samuel 15:22-23).
Conscious Sin: Deliberately doing things against God's will creates a separation between a person and God, which can hinder the flow of blessings. Isaiah 59:2 states, "But your iniquities have separated you from your God; and your sins have hidden His face from you, so that He will not hear."
3. Wrong Priorities
Placing other things before God is a major hindrance.
Seeking Wealth Over God: The Bible warns against the love of money (1 Timothy 6:10) and encourages believers to seek God's kingdom first (Matthew 6:33). When a person's primary focus is on worldly gain, they can become distracted and miss out on God's full plan for their lives.
The Deceitfulness of Riches: The Parable of the Sower (Mark 4:18-19) illustrates how the "cares of the world, the deceitfulness of riches, and the desires for other things" can choke out the word of God and make it unproductive in a person's life.
4. Lack of Gratitude
An ungrateful heart can be a barrier to receiving more.
Ingratitude: The act of being thankful for what you have is seen as an act of faith and trust in God's provision. A complaining or ungrateful spirit can reflect a lack of faith that God will provide and can therefore hinder further blessings.
5. Unforgiveness and Bitterness
Holding onto grudges can create a spiritual blockage.
Bitter Roots: The Bible speaks of a "root of bitterness" that defiles many (Hebrews 12:15). Unforgiveness not only hurts a person spiritually but can also act as a barrier to receiving God's grace and blessings in their own life.
Unanswered Prayer: Jesus' teaching on forgiveness is linked to prayer, suggesting that if we don't forgive others, our own prayers may not be answered (Mark 11:25-26).
6. Pride and Self-Reliance
Thinking that one's success is due to their own efforts alone can hinder God's involvement.
Forgetting the Giver: Deuteronomy 8:18 warns against forgetting that it is God who gives the power to get wealth. Pride can lead a person to trust in their own strength and wisdom rather than in God, which can cut them off from His provision.
In summary, from a Christian perspective, receiving God's divine abundance is not automatic. It is often contingent on a person's relationship with God, their obedience to His commands, and the state of their heart. It's about aligning one's life with God's will and trusting in His faithfulness to provide.
