Inspiring Careers: Navigating Career Prospects in Accounting✍🏾👨🏾‍🎓

The Nigerian Universities Accounting Students Association (NUASA), Rivers State University, successfully hosted a two-in-one event featuring “Navigating Career Prospects in Accounting” and the “Can You Speak Accounting?” competition. The program aimed to equip students with industry insights while also testing their accounting knowledge in an engaging competition✨

The event commenced with a welcome address by the NUASA President Comr. Ebereonwu Martins Onyinyechi who encouraged students to see accounting beyond numbers, emphasizing its role as the backbone of businesses, economies, and nations⚓

A major highlight was the keynote address delivered by the Special Guest of Honor, Dr Chris B. Yorkina, who inspired students with valuable insights into career growth and opportunities within the accounting profession.💡🎓

The session featured renowned speakers such as Mr Isijola Blessing (Pst) and Mr TOOBA Torbari who broadened students' perspectives on diverse career paths in accounting and finance✅.

In the “Can You Speak Accounting?” competition, participants demonstrated their knowledge💭and communication skills, with winners receiving prizes, including grants and scholarships, in recognition of their excellence🏅🏆.

🎊Celebrating the Legacy of the DE.1996 NUASA Alumni Set

On Friday 6th December, 2024 the DE.1996 set of NUASA alumni visited our department and were warmly welcomed by the Dean of the Faculty of Administration and Management [ Prof. John Ohaka], the Head of the Accounting Department[ Prof. Thank God Imo], the 2023/2024 NUASA President [Comr. Ebereonwu Martins], alongside other distinguished lecturers who received them with gratitude and pride☺️

The alumni shared profound insights about life after school as accounting graduates, leaving the students inspired and motivated to dream big and prepare for impactful careers.✍🏽

In addition, on Saturday 7th December the NUASA RSU Executives were honored to attend the DE.1996 NUASA Alumni dinner. The event was filled with stories, wisdom, and moments that highlighted the enduring bond between NUASA alumni and current students.🤩🤍

This visit and dinner underscored the power of mentorship, community, and shared experiences in building a lasting legacy for the Accounting profession.🤝🏾🥂

🎓 MARKING A HISTORIC MILESTONE:
THE FIRST INAUGURAL LECTURE OF THE DEPARTMENT OF ACCOUNTING, RIVERS STATE UNIVERSITY.

The Department of Accounting at Rivers State University marked a significant milestone in its history with the First Inaugural Lecture, titled “Pragmatic Ideologies and Visionary Accounting: Reinforcing the Helmet,” delivered by His Excellency Prof. L.C. Obara.

The event, held in grand style, featured an outstanding and thought-provoking lecture that emphasized the role of pragmatic ideologies and visionary strategies in advancing the accounting profession. Prof. Obara highlighted critical insights into the evolving landscape of accounting practices and the need for resilience, innovation, and ethical standards in navigating the challenges of the modern financial world.

We were deeply honored by the presence of Distinguished Guests, including:

• Her Excellency, Prof. Ngozi Nma Odu DSSRS, Deputy Governor of Rivers State.
•Prof. Valentine Omubo-Pepple, Deputy Vice Chancellor (Administration)
•Prof. John Ohaka,Dean, Faculty of Administration and Management.
•Prof. ThankGod Imo, Head of the Department of Accounting.
Other notable attendees included Dean's of various Faculties, respected professors, and revered traditional rulers, whose participation enriched the event. Their presence underscored the significance of this landmark moment for the Accounting Department🤍.

♣️This momentous event also witnessed the active participation of accounting students, led by the NUASA RSU President, Comrade Ebereonwu Martins Onyinyechi, AAT, who represented the vibrant student community with commendable enthusiasm.

HOD'S CUP 2024: A Triumphant Victory for Our Final Year Champions! 🏆

The recently concluded HOD'S CUP football tournament⚽, organized by the 2023/2024 NUASA Executives under the leadership of Comr. Ebereonwu Martins Onyinyechi, was a thrilling success🎊! This event was held in honor of our esteemed HOD, Prof. ThankGod Imo, whose commitment to excellence continues to inspire us all.

💫The final match saw our determined Final Year students clinch victory over the Year 2 students in a captivating game filled with skill and sportsmanship🤝🏾. Congratulations to our champions, and a huge thank you to every participant who made this tournament unforgettable❤️‍🔥

🎊NUASA RSU YEAR 1 RECEPTION PROGRAM
Theme: STAND OUT 👑🌟

The 2023/2024 NUASA administration, under the leadership of Comr. Ebereonwu Martins Onyinyechi, recently organized the Year 1 Reception Program to officially welcome new students to the Department of Accounting at Rivers State University. The event, themed STAND OUT, was graced by several distinguished lecturers, including:

The NUASA President delivered a warm welcome address, introducing the Year 1 students to the esteemed faculty members present💫.
Dr. O.I. Ogaluzor, in his keynote speech, expanded on the theme, urging students to distinguish themselves by striving for excellence in both their academics and personal growth❤️‍🔥.

The Head of Department, Prof. ThankGod Imo, praised the Comr. Ebereonwu Martins Onyinyechi-led administration for organizing such a well-planned and impactful event. He further encouraged the students to always give their best in all they do.

🎊A symbolic cake cutting 🎂and launching followed, accompanied by the distribution of branded jotters, marking the official reception of the new students✨

Dr. J.D. Zukbee provided an informative session on CGPA calculation📊, emphasizing the need for students to understand how to verify their grades and avoid errors in the results portal.

Dr. Chiemam Faith Okee, the Student Adviser, also addressed the students, urging them to stay focused💯on their academic goals and to make the most of their time at the university.

📢 NUASA RSU CONGRESS REPORT – 2023/2024 SESSION
First Congress under the Leadership of Comr. Ebereonwu Martins Onyinyechi 🙇🏾‍♂️

The Nigerian Universities Accounting Students Association (NUASA), Rivers State University, held its first Congress for the 2023/2024 academic session on Monday 29th July, 2024 under the administration of Comr. Ebereonwu Martins Onyinyechi. This Congress marked a new era of leadership and vision for the Accounting students of Rivers State University. With the attendance of students from various levels, the event set the tone for a productive and transformative year✨

Key Highlights of the Congress📌📌

Presentation of Executives:
The newly inaugurated Executive team for the 2023/2024 session was formally presented to the house. The executives are fully committed to driving the association forward and ensuring the success of the academic year.

Presentation of Stakeholders:
Comr. Okpara Chimeka (Chairman), Comr. Ofurum Precious (Secretary), and Comr. Ikechi Kelechi (Public Relations Officer) were introduced as the Stakeholders Forum by the President. This forum will play a crucial role in advising and guiding the administration throughout the year.

Formation of a Constitution Review Committee📝:
Recognizing the need for updates and adjustments to the current NUASA constitution, President Comr. Ebereonwu Martins Onyinyechi announced the formation of a Constitution Review Committee. This committee is tasked with addressing any lapses in the constitution and ensuring it aligns with the evolving needs of the association.

Year One Reception Deliberations🎊:
Deliberations on the upcoming Year One Reception, an event designed to officially welcome fresh students into the department, were discussed. The event promises to be a memorable one, as the department looks forward to integrating the newest members into the NUASA family🤍💫

HOD's Cup🏆
The Congress also deliberated on the recently concluded HOD’s Cup, a football tournament held in honor of our esteemed Head of Department, Prof. ThankGod Imo. The tournament fostered sportsmanship and unity among students, while celebrating the leadership and contributions of Prof. Imo to the department.

This Congress showcased the vision🕊️and drive of the newly elected executives and stakeholders as they work together to ensure the growth and success of the Accounting Department💯
