*OVER TOO SOON☹️☹️*

It is the first of its kind where members from different universities have come together, and words can’t describe my happiness😁

From the career guidance to touring important landmarks to playing cards late into the night to snapping countless pictures, we have grown so fond of each other in the span of less than 2 days.

We have postively impacted so many lives through the free medical outreach and had fun while doing it. Med school can be so stressful, I’m sure we’ve all blown off the excess steam. I don’t know about you, but I wish every week were a health week!

A big thank you to Emir of Argungu for the wonderful hospitality, PADWO for such a wonderful collaboration, NMA Kebbi state for all the support as mother association,Dr. Jibril Labbo Gwandu DMS Kebbi state MOH, Dr. Ashiru Ladan CMAC FUTH Birnin Kebbi,our various alumni and everyone who has worked tirelessly to make the realization of the program possible. To the 59 people who showed up, you guys are the best😍 I must admit things have turned out to be far better than we ever hoped for.

I must also acknowledge those who were not able to make it to the health week due to one reason or the other. Your support has in many ways made it a success🙏

Lastly, permit me to quote the famous saying of Lorrin L “Happiness is living a life having fun, friends and freedom”

ONE ON ONE WITH KEBBI’S NUMBER ONE CITIZEN
In the first of it’s kind, the recently inducted doctors along with the leadership of KEMSA met with his excellency, the Governor of Kebbi State Comrade Nasir Isah Idris at the government house Birnin Kebbi yesternight.
In attendance were key members of his cabinet including the Secretary to the State government, Chief Of Staff, SA on health, health ministry’s commissioner, permanent secretary and director, the commissioner LG affairs to mention a few. Also present were NMA chairman, NMA secretary, chairman civil service commission and other important stakeholders.

Several important issues regarding the current state and future of healthcare in the state were discussed, in an attempt to come up with a lasting solution to address the serious brain drain happening everyday in the state. Both the commissioner of health and NMA chairman extensively explained the reasons for the problem.

During his remarks, his excellency promised the following:
1. Adjustment of doctor’s salary to bridge the pay gap that exist between state and federal-employed doctors as well as improving welfarism.
2. Raise in monthly clinical allowances of medical students from thirty thousand to fifty thousand naira
3. Plan for rehabilitation of hospitals and provision of essential medical equipment to create a conducive work environment.

To confirm his dedication to the cause, the governor posted a summary of the meeting and the promises he made on his X handle earlier today, where he reiterated his goal to create an environment where doctors are content to safeguard the health of the populace.

Dear KEMSAITES, I feel it is imperative I bring to light the new doctors’ plan to all return and serve their states even prior to this meeting. In this regard, I wish to congratulate them for being honorable individuals. You are role models to us all.

*KEBBI GETS 13 NEW DOCTORS*🎉🎉
The freshly hatched doctors are part of the 79 graduates who were just inducted by the MDCN yesterday at Usmanu Danfodiyo University Sokoto.
Present during the ceremony to receive the doctors were the Kebbi State commissioner of health and the permanent secretary to the ministry.
Your 8 years of sacrifices, dedication and hardwork has finally paid up. _Venisti, vedisti vici_.
As we rejoice with you, we pray may Allah guide your decisions and ease your affairs during your journey as medical doctors and may your knowledge be a blessing to your various communities, Nigeria and humanity at large.

*KEMSA PAYS VISIT TO KSUSTA AND FUBK MEDICAL STUDENTS*

The president of KEMSA, his vice, the director education, voluntarily joined by a past president of KEMSA in person of Dr Hibbana Muhammad paid visit to medical students of Kebbi State University of Science & Technology Aliero (KSUSTA) and that of Federal University Birnin Kebbi (FUBK) on Sunday, 4th of June, 2023.

This is to introduce KEMSA to the KSUSTA medical students who happen to be the first intake of MBBS students there. A brief guidance session on how to navigate medical school also ensued so as to prime them for medical school proper.

The visit to FUBK medical students focused more on guidance, especially to their 300L class who will be facing their 1st MBBS exam in months to come without any seniors there to guide them.

The visit was successful and the students appreciate the visit, commenting that they promise to do as told and will keep the fire burning. Pictures of the visit are attached to this post.
