GREATEST DANFODITE
Assalam Alaykum My Brothers and Sisters in
humanity.
I want to assured you of my heartfelt gratitude
for all of the advices, support and
encouragement i received from you. This will
continue to be appreciated.
I am deeply indebted to all students and friends
who
accorded me the opportunity to vie for the
position of Students Representative Assembly
seat based on my pragmatic,
indubitable, impeccable record and consciously
trusting that a new wave of Representations is
sweeping through the corridors and streets of
Usmanu Danfodiyo university. For this
opportunity, I
am grateful and I want to thank you all for
showing your support to me and being a party to
this
significant occasion. In executing this role as
Students Legislator I am truly humbled, ready
and excited
for this academic year unfolding. This University
is an amazing place because here, every student
can make a difference, a difference that can be
felt on this campus and even beyond.
The Student Union from our point of view is “the
only student organization which can represent
the entire student body here at Usmanu
Danfodiyo
University and other constituent institutions.” In
an apparent statement, the mission of this Union
and the Administration is – “Soaring on the
wings of excellence” by this I mean we are not
only the voice but also ensuring student
potential is highly maximized academically.
We are the voice but the only way the voice
could be heard, changes made and actions
taking is, if we are able to speak as one object.
This student body has so much to say but we
must first give them the means to express their
opinions and ideas. We will utilize the suggestion
boxes that are to be placed in strategic areas
around the campus to get a more tangible
expression of students’ point of view and a
speedy adherence to the divergent opinion. Our
goal is to create a more welcoming atmosphere
for all Students Body. One should
never be afraid or nervous to approach those
that represent you. My representation will reach
out
to its members through the planning and
implementation of class projects for effective
face-to-face communication. Communication
however involves both sides. We will work to
make the voices that are silent, stronger, while
at the same time the Student Union will strive to
make a substantial effort to let the students
know what we are doing. Though, the efforts of
most student union government over the years
seems to be other wise to some authorities and
some members of the general populace, but we
here at Usmanu Danfodiyo University is going to
stand aloof amidst all this slandering images,
become exemplary and unique body to those
involved.
My representation would strive to ensure that
recess
is maximized in the best interest of students of
this institution. This dynamic team of student
leaders believe in the ideal of continuity in
governance, hence we will do all within our
influence to ensure that future Students Union is
able to sustain development programs initiated
by previous regimes. We understand that
University life can be daunting at some times, we
require guidance on issues separate from the
academic aspect of University life. I will ensure
that my team (SRA) assists all students to the
best of
their ability; and the voice of our students will be
brought to table.
As Representative I believe i must always be
proactive in all issues relating to Students, be it
activities of Societies, an academic matter. I will
create an affable relationship with students union
executives with a view of letting students of this
institution have access to as many opportunities
and social events as possible. I will be the voice
that represents every student; I shall continue to
build on the relationship between the SU and the
University. It will be our duty (SRA) to ensure
that our
students receive the best opportunities and
education that they deserve so that the SU can
benefit hugely from the continued support of the
University. Innovation will be a key factor and
driving force in the efforts of this administration.
In the coming years, we know it is not about
representing our own agenda and our own
desires and necessities, but the needs of the
students who we are representing.
There will be a voice in every conversation and a
hand in every process. At the heart of everything
that we do, and every promise and every decision
we make will be one overarching philosophy: the
fact that we will not settle for anything less than
the best interests of the students. I want to
leave a long lasting impact on this university. We
want to leave an indelible mark on not just
current students but students in future years. I
want to sponsor a bill that will reserve at least a
slot for female student in the students legislative
midst. I shall insha Allah represents the
voiceless.
