DEPARTMENT OF ANATOMY FACULTY OF BASIC MEDICAL SCIENCES REPORT OF ACCREDITATION VISIT
ULI: On the 4th of November, 2025 the Department of anatomy held her accreditation,The accreditation was led by the Head of Department, Dr Stanley Elemuo.
Welcome and Reception:
The accreditation team was formally welcomed at the Deputy Vice-Chancellor’s office by the Deputy Vice Chancellor Prof Sylvia Okonkwo. Following the welcome, the team was escorted to the library to inspect the Anatomy books section and verify that students have adequate resources for sound, quality education.
Meeting with Faculty:
The team proceeded to the Faculty Dean’s office, where they were offered kolanuts and light appetizers. After a brief reception, they were escorted to the Department of Anatomy, where they were graciously welcomed with an early-morning tea and refreshments.
Inspection of Facilities
Anatomy Laboratory: The team observed a satisfactory number of microscopes, functional projectors, and other equipment, concluding that the laboratory meets the required standards.
Laboratory Store-room & Classroom: Minor corrections were noted and communicated to the staff.
Cadaver Room: The team viewed preserved human bodies and skeletons, expressing admiration for the specimens on display.
Chemical Store-rooms: The storage facilities were inspected and found to be appropriately organized.
Anatomy Library: Offline textbooks and computer-based resources were examined; the collection was deemed adequate for supporting quality education.
Animal House: The team observed rabbits, rats, and Guinea pigs used for research purposes.
Lecturers’ Offices: Office spaces were inspected, and a roll-call was conducted to verify the qualifications of the lecturing staff.
After a comprehensive review, the accreditation team expressed satisfaction with the facilities and resources provided by the Department of Anatomy.
