*HANDLE MISTAKES WITH LOVE:*

A brother forgot to put his phone on silent, & it rang so loud in the Church during preaching.

The Pastor scolded him.

The worshippers admonished him after the sermon for interrupting.

His wife kept on lecturing on his carelessness all the way home.

His departmental colleague workers shook their heads in disgust

You could see the shame, embarrassment and humiliation on his face.

He never stepped foot in the Church again after the service that Sunday.

That evening, he went to a bar.
He was still nervous and trembling.

He spilled his drink on the table, the bottle fell by accident and it splashed on some people.

Those it touched rushed towards him. He closed his eyes expecting a bashing of words or slaps.

Instead, they cared to know if he did get a cut from the broken bottle.

The waiter apologized and gave him a napkin to clean himself.

The janitor mopped the floor.

The female manager offered him a complimentary drink.

She also gave him a huge hug and a peck while saying, "Don't worry man. Who doesn't make mistakes?"

He has not stopped going to that bar since then.

*LESSON* Sometimes our attitude as believers drives souls to Hell.

We can make a difference by how we treat people, especially when they make mistakes.

* IF you cannot be a bridge to connect people, then do not be a wall to separate them.

* IF you cannot be a light to brighten people's good deeds then do not be darkness covering their efforts.

* IF you cannot be water to help people's crops sprout, then do not be a pest destroying their crops.

* IF you cannot be a vaccine to give life, do not be a virus to terminate it.

* IF you cannot be a pencil to write anyone's happiness, then try to be a nice eraser to remove their sadness.

We can always be each others keeper, let us resolve to heal the world and make it a better place. Yes, we can. It is easier to lose soul than to win souls.

A HIDDEN TREASURE UNSEEN

BY: JUDE RAPHAEL MBOTEPI
You may have a glimpse of what will be coming up in this piece because of the caption. It may interest you to know that once a pen is dropped positively, a lot of things can be set ablaze in peoples mind especially when the writer touches an existential matter. I sometimes ponder a lot on how our country and our communities are blessed, and the citizens tend not to make use of the natural blessings that God has bestowed on us. It’s crystal clear that the scripture succinctly puts it this way, I will look on you with favor and make you fruitful and increase your numbers, and I will keep my covenant with you ( Cf. Lev. 26:9). After all these faithful promises from the created creator and the cause of all things in the universe, we humans turn it via-negetiva. We are blinded with mundane materials that have taken the beauty of our worship, prayer life and arms giving which should be our source of unity, joy and strength in our everyday life as Christians. Many of us do not know what they carry, we tend to play around with our Gods given talents like a pig in a groove, but we go about polishing other peoples character in a negative manner. Jesus in his earthly life ministry taught his disciples the central tenets of Christian faith. He showed them the way of radical discipleship, the way of total commitment to the will of God, and the way of sacrificial love. But many of us today understood nothing of his message and focused on the worldly pleasures which have blocked our eyes from seeing what God has placed for us on a platter of gold. Our vision is often blurred by greed and inordinate ambition for power and prestige, our world is blinded by sin whether individually or socially. All such acts continue to blind our sight of faith, deter us from following God thereby becoming deaf and dumb in the spiritual realm. Some of us do say after all, grace is sufficient. The question is should we continue to sin so that grace can abide? Christ lessons proved to be too difficult for the disciples to understand. Little wonder then, Pastor Johnson, Suleiman once said, we are often blinded with material things. We are too busy with this world, in the morning we Charge our phones, by day we Charge our phones, at night we Charge our phones, even when we are asleep we Charge our phones, but our spiritual life is not charge the way we charge our phones. We dont even have time to study the word of God nor pray. I challenge you today, if you can Charge your spiritual life the way you Charge your phone, the promise made to our fathers Abraham and Jacob will definitely fall on you. You are Gods treasure dont remove that indelible mark of ownership because you were created in the image and likeness of God. David realized the strength in him and he put Goliath down and the Philistines at large to shame and dismay. By the virtue of our Baptism as Christians we are called to show the love of Christ and to preach him wherever we find ourselves, but reverse is the case, like a mother chicks at night slept on a horde of corns and complaining of hunger at the dawn of the day. The people of God had blinded their minds ability to see God by looking on the face of idols. But on the other hand, Isaiah made them to look up at the heavens, that is, he made them began to use their power to think and to visualize correctly (40: 26).
QUESTIONS TO PONDER ON
√ How many times do you pray in a day, or do..
you even pray at all?
√ Do you find time to read the word of God?
√ Do you even go to church?
√ What organization do you belong?
What answers do you have for the above questions? I rest my case. You know yourself better than I do. Like a sculptor, if necessary, try and carve a friend out of a stone, you will not only be happy but feel with joy that you have found something kept unused for quite a long time. There is nothing wrong with the geography, the land, nor the economic sector of our country as one writer once said, but the problem with our country today is the inability of our leaders to rise up to their responsibility in order the shape our Nigerian situation. If our leaders, parents, uncles, friends, siblings and our communities are not leaving up to standard, should we fold our hands like a woman who lost her penny in the early hours of day having no hope of getting it? No no no we can make a difference in our capacity because God has endowed on us, the enablement to think and to re-create other things for the common good of our land. Our land is blessed, reshape your mind set, and tilt the land like an entrepreneur who always tries to fill the gap he noticed around him. Dont ever tell yourself that you cant make it in life. In the same light, Mahadmagandi once said, be a change you want to see. There is something good that is hidden about you, have a deep introspection about your whole being, something positive can come out of Nazareth. Despite the environmental crisis, noise, and pains youre experiencing, you can still discover that great treasure that is hidden in you, as prophet Jeremiah foretold it to the people of Israel when they were in exile (23ff)
As you reflect on this piece, may God give you the enormous zeal to know what you carry? MBOCARES🙏🙏

Good evening everyone

The topic of our presentation tonight is: CHRISTMAS: A PAGAN FEAST OR A CHRISTIAN CELEBRATION

INTRODUCTION
Christmas is a multicultural festival with a long pagan history, and can be celebrated by anyone. It has a pagan origin but emphatically, it is a Christian celebration as the name suggests 'Christ Mass.'

BRIEF HISTORY OF CHRISTMAS
Many traditional elements of Christmas pre-date Christianity. Most Christmas customs are, in fact, based on old pagan festivals, the Roman Saturnalia and the Scandinavian and Teutonic Yule. In other words, Christmas was pagan before it was adopted (and renamed) by Christians. Christmas was not even among the earliest festivals of the Church. Irenaeus and Tertullian even omitted it from their lists of feasts.
The Roman pagans first introduced the holiday of Saturnalia ( a week long period of lawlessness celebrated between December 17-25) dedicated for the celebration of the Sun. 25th December was the final and grand day of this feast . The ancient Greek poet and historian Lucian (in his dialogue entitled Saturnalia) describes the nature of this feast to include; human sacrifice, widespread intoxication; going from house to house while singing naked; r**e and other sexual license.
In the 4th century CE, Christianity in the bid to convert pagans also imported the Saturnalia festival to make them feel Comfortable in their new religion (Christianity). Christian leaders succeeded in converting to Christianity large numbers of pagans by promising them that they could continue to celebrate the Saturnalia as Christians. Since there was nothing intrinsically Christian about Saturnalia, the Church named Saturnalia’s concluding day, December 25th, to be Jesus’ birthday and gradually denounced the immoral pagan practices of this feast, thus Christ became the focal point of this feast.

CHRIST VIS A VIS THE SUN
One evening a passage from Evening Prayer in the Divine Office caught my attention. It was the final prayer and it read: “Father, yours is the morning and yours is the evening. Let the SUN of Justice, Jesus Christ, shine for ever in our hearts and draw us to that light where you live in radiant glory.” Christ is the SUN which as a result of His obedient and willing sacrifice on the holy wood of the Cross, shines in our hearts.Through his death and resurrection He redeemed us of our sins and guides us back to the Father. He is the Son and the Word of the Father.
He is the Light of the World. He is also the Sun of Justice, in that we as individuals will all surely have His light illumine our souls and be judged by His standards. So, it's not out of place that Christ is celebrated on the day reserved for the celebration of the Sun for he is the the true Sun that illumines the world.
Just as the SUN shines on both the righteous and sinners as reported by Mathew 5:45, so also is Christ, for his salvation is universal. So, Christ in essence is indeed the Sun that the pagans worshiped and celebrated even without knowing.

CONCLUSION
From the foregoing, it is evident that Christmas is a Christian celebration with a pagan origin that can be celebrated by anyone. It is a day of celebrating the birth of Jesus the light of the world and the Sun of Justice. Christ is the reason of the season hence, it is a day we are called upon to look into our hearts and sincerely christianize our pagan practices of Lust, hedonism, greed, Malice, pride, slander, character assassination and the likes.

HAPPY CHRISTMAS BELOVED

YOU DON'T KNOW THE DAMAGE YOU ARE DOING TO YOURSELF.

BY: RAPHAEL JUDE MBOTEPI
As the aphorism goes, a stitch in time saves nine. I may like to start with something that has eaten up our community and even the world at large. People have their reasons why they do what they do. The question is, are you convinced of what youre doing or what you are about doing? We tend to infect our body systems with some toxic substances that in future will eventually lead us into a serious illness or pave an economic meltdown into our families and communities with some disorders likes; mental sickness, liver cirrhosis, and even an inability to function well when you get married in future. I met a friend soliloquizing on his way to his house; I taught he was speaking to someone, after a long and a close observation I discovered something was wrong upstairs. Ordinarily, a normal person shouldn't have exhibited such character. Although some psychological trauma can lead one to such situations, little did I know that the man was a drunkard and he stinks like a man who perfumed himself with a formalin (CF 1 corinthians 6:19. building an irregularities towards Gods temple). Many today sleepily fall into such a metaphor even after seeing the blind frogs falling into a pit; it didnt serve as a lesson to them. One day you might hit the drum of your success and your dancing shoes might be missing or by then things might have grown worse, whose fault could that be? Is drinking beer good or bad? I can see different answers coming up from different angles, but you know what? I am not afraid of your questions…my answer to all your questions is, what is right is right and what is wrong is wrong no matter what people may say. I leave that to your conscious
Women are weaker vessels as the scripture says (1 peter3:7). I am not underrating the power of women, but pregnant women should take this to heart. Women who drink alcohol and other un-prescribed drugs during pregnancy can give birth to babies with fetal alcohol spectrum disorders, sometimes known as FASDs. FASD is the umbrella term for a range of disorders. These disorders can be mild or severe and can cause physical and mental birth defect. Alcohol crosses the placenta and rapidly reaches the fetus. Little wonder then, when Samson's mother was pregnant, she was told by an angel not to drink alcohol or anything toxic. Alcohol sometimes causes higher blood alcohol concentrations in your developing baby than in your body because a fetus metabolizes alcohol slower than an adult does. Exposure to alcohol before birth can harm the development of tissues, organs and cause permanent brain damage in your baby.
Drinking ease tension, so they say, but I dont concur with such phrase. Some say it makes you feel good and forget about your sorrow. If then, that which engineers your body got off its work those sorrowful moments will emerge back to their toes. Many persons drink in large quantity, things like beer, strong wine, and liquor, in a relatively short time. As the amount of alcohol in the bloodstream increases, the liver cant break down the alcohol and remove the toxins from the blood quickly enough. The excess alcohol acts as a depressant and causes parts of the brain that control vital body functions including breathing, heart rate, blood pressure, obesity and temperature to shut down.
You may tend to argue it out; Men are more likely than women to drink heavily, resulting in a greater risk for an alcohol overdose. Your height and weight determine how quickly your body absorbs alcohol. Someone with a smaller body (zaqen if you know you know) may experience the effects of alcohol more rapidly than someone with a larger body. In fact, the smaller bodied person may experience an alcohol overdose after drinking the same amount that a larger-bodied person can consume safely. One evening, I met some guys chanting this song after the dawn of the day and the song goes like this. In heaven there is no beer, thats why we drink it here, and when we are done from here, all our friends will be drinking all our beers…all these allusions must path not our ways, as believers. St. Paul rightly captures it well, he succinctly put it this way, be an exemplary leaders wherever you find yourself. On the contrary, if you have any other health conditions, such as inherited diabetes, Hepatitis, Lepromatus, and Gastric ulcer you may be at greater risk because you are endangering yourself, and your future may not end well. If you continuously combine alcohol and drugs, the effects in future could lead your mortal being deprived from proper functioning.
Confusion or disorientation, vomiting, Hypothermia (Inability to stay conscious), Cold or clammy skin, Lack of physical coordination, including an inability to walk, Irregular pulse, depressed breathing, Seizure, Choking, Loss of bowel or bladder control, Blue tinged skin, especially around the lips or under the fingernails. My reader, I have a good message for you.
Perhaps the only good thing about alcohol is that it is 100% preventable. Taking the following steps will help you avoid dangerous situation from which you may develop unwanted habit around your community. Only drink moderately, if at all you want to. Have a bottle drink at most per day, but if possible abstain which is the best way. If need be don't drink on an empty stomach, make sure you drink sufficient water. Store alcohol products carefully and out of the reach of children and finally, educate your family and friends (especially teens) about the dangers of alcohol in other to go about it, but be wise as a serpent and be simple as a dove. The best way to leave with people is to tolerate them. More over, you've been tolerated long ago before becoming where you are. Make a difference and that should be in conformity with being sincere, truthful, and above all. Let love lead

I attended
A Wedding ceremony
With a gathering of
About 30 people.

I sat in the front seat.

A Lady started distributing food.

She started from
The back and unfortunately,
It didn't get to us who were sitting at the front.

Another Lady started
Sharing the Drinks,
She started from
The front.
But unfortunately
I had
Already moved
To sit At The Back.

Again
The drink
Didn't get to me.

I was
So furious that
I stood up
To take my leave.

But then
I saw
Three ladies
Each with A Big Bowl.

This time,
I tried to Be Smart.
I Sat Right
At the Middle.

One of the Ladies
Started the sharing
From the Front,
The Second Lady
Started
Distributing from
The back.

The Two Ladies were
Sharing Roasted Chicken.

When
They got
To the middle,
Where I was seated,
It got finished again!

Feeling So frustrated,
I Bent My Head,
Putting My Face
In My Hands...

But Then
The Third Lady
Tapped me
And
Stretched Her Bowl
For Me To Pick.

Joyfully I Stretched
And
Put My Hands
Inside The Bowl...

Guess
What was
In the Bowl ?

TOOTHPICKS !!!!

Moral:

DO NOT TRY
To Position
Yourself in Life,

Allow GOD
To Put You
In The Right Place

Otherwise
You will
Wrongfully position
Yourself
For
Toothpicks Only !!
