DOrSU-TEC extends its deepest appreciation to the Local Government Unit of Tarragona, under the leadership of our dedicated and dynamic Municipal Mayor, Dr. Art Benjie “Kaka” Bulaong, for the continued support and commitment to strengthening education and promoting the welfare and development of the people of Tarragona.

Your partnership demonstrates the power of collaboration in creating opportunities, empowering learners, and building a stronger community. We are truly grateful for your continued trust, support, and commitment to the advancement of education.

Today, we proudly commemorate the 3rd Founding Anniversary of Davao Oriental State University – Tarragona External Classes through a meaningful Thanksgiving Mass.

This significant milestone marks three years of dedicated service, continuous growth, academic development, and strengthened partnerships. It is a celebration made possible through the collective efforts and unwavering support of our students, faculty, staff, administrators, and the community. As we honor the journey we have shared, we remain committed to pursuing excellence, fostering collaboration, and creating greater opportunities for our students and the community we serve.

We also express our sincere gratitude to Rev. Fr. Eric Bangcot, Parish Priest of San Pedro Claver Parish, for presiding over our Thanksgiving Mass and for sharing his prayers, wisdom, and inspiring presence with the DOrSU-TEC community. Your spiritual guidance and generous support have added profound meaning to this important celebration.

Today, we celebrate National Heroes Day by honoring and remembering the Filipino heroes who dedicated their lives to our country. We recognize their courage, sacrifices, and love for the Philippines that helped shape the freedom and opportunities we enjoy today. Their bravery and patriotism remind us of the values of unity, service, and love for our nation. As we celebrate, we also remember the struggles they faced and the sacrifices they made for the Filipino people.

Their legacy continues to live on in our generation. Although we may not face the same battles as our heroes did before, we can honor them by doing our part today helping others, serving our communities, respecting one another, studying and working hard, and caring for our country. Their sacrifices are our inheritance, and our actions today are how we continue their legacy for the next generation. ❤️

| Davao Oriental State University congratulates University President Dr. Roy G. Ponce for being named among the Top 10 Presidents of State Universities and Colleges (SUCs) in the Philippines with Scopus-indexed publications, based on the 13 August 2026 update of GHF University Excellence.
​
With seven Scopus-indexed publications to his name, Dr. Ponce joins a select group of SUC presidents whose work in research continues alongside the demands of institutional leadership.
​
His published studies also reflect the direction DOrSU has been steadily building over the years. Several of these works touch on areas that help define the University’s niche as a regenerative futures university, including biodiversity conservation, sustainability, innovation, and institutional development.

For DOrSU, the recognition is especially meaningful as it affirms the place of research in shaping the University’s identity and in moving its vision forward—to become a regenerative futures university in the Asia-Pacific by 2035.
