The competition is open to students from all year levels and academic programs, as well as interested groups within the University of Southern Mindanao.
Registration Fee: PHP 90.00 per team (3 members) or PHP 30.00 per individual.
1. Teams may consist of participants from different year levels and/or academic programs.
2. Each team shall have three (3) official contestants and designate one Team Captain as its official representative.
3. Each team shall select an official team name. Duplicate names shall be resolved on a first-registered, first-served basis.
4. A participant may compete under only one team.
5. Participants shall arrive at least 30 minutes before the scheduled start for registration, verification, team confirmation, and equipment testing.
6. Mobile phones, smartwatches, tablets, laptops, notes, books, reviewers, internet resources, and other unauthorized materials or devices are prohibited during active rounds.
7. Participants shall not communicate with or receive assistance from individuals outside their team during active rounds.
8. All participants shall observe honesty, academic integrity, sportsmanship, and respect. Cheating, unauthorized assistance, disruption, impersonation, equipment tampering, or other violations may result in penalty or disqualification.
9. Decisions of the Quiz Committee and Board of Judges on the interpretation and implementation of the rules shall be final and binding.

Questions are drawn from the following areas:
1. Cell and Molecular Biology
2. Evolution and Systematics
3. Ecology
4. Plant Biology
5. Animal Biology
6. Microbiology
7. Genetics and Heredity
8. General Biology and Biological Applications

The quiz consists of four rounds. A Clincher Round will be held to settle ties.
Round 1: Bio Basics โ Easy round
With 15 questions worth 1 point each. Participants are given 5 seconds to answer each item. This round consists of 10 multiple-choice questions and 5 identification questions, for a maximum score of 15 points.
Round 2: Bio Battle โ Moderate round
With 15 questions worth 3 points each. Participants are given 5 seconds to answer each item. This round consists of 10 multiple-choice questions and 5 modified true-or-false questions, for a maximum score of 45 points.
Round 3: Bio Brainteaser โ Difficult round
With 10 questions worth 5 points each. Participants are given 10 seconds to answer each item. This round consists of 5 multiple-choice questions and 5 identification questions, for a maximum score of 50 points.
Round 4: Final Battle โ Advanced round
With 10 questions worth 10 points each. Participants are given 15 seconds to answer each item. This round consists of true-or-false and identification questions, for a maximum score of 100 points.

If a tie occurs, teams shall answer sudden-death questions. The first team to answer correctly while the opposing team fails shall win the tie-break. Additional questions shall continue until a definitive ranking is established.

Only the Team Captain may formally raise a challenge. Challenges must be raised immediately after the relevant question and may concern question ambiguity, incorrect answer keys, scientifically inaccurate information, misreading of a question, scoring errors, or procedural violations. The decision of the Board of Judges and Quiz Committee shall be final and binding.
