𝙋𝙧𝙚𝙥𝙖𝙧𝙚𝙙 𝙩𝙤𝙙𝙖𝙮, 𝙧𝙚𝙖𝙙𝙮 𝙛𝙤𝙧 𝙩𝙤𝙢𝙤𝙧𝙧𝙤𝙬.

On September 3, 2026, officers and members of the English Majors’ Organization (EMO) attended the 𝗦𝘁𝘂𝗱𝗲𝗻𝘁 𝗗𝗲𝘃𝗲𝗹𝗼𝗽𝗺𝗲𝗻𝘁 𝗣𝗿𝗼𝗴𝗿𝗮𝗺 𝗣𝗵𝗮𝘀𝗲 𝟭: 𝗣𝘂𝗹𝘀𝗲 𝗮𝗻𝗱 𝗣𝘂𝗿𝗽𝗼𝘀𝗲. SDP Phase 1 was a Disaster Readiness and Risk Reduction initiative conducted by the Education Student Council (ESC) in partnership with the Iloilo City Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Office.

The activity emphasized 𝗿𝗶𝘀𝗸 𝗮𝘀𝘀𝗲𝘀𝘀𝗺𝗲𝗻𝘁, 𝗵𝗮𝘇𝗮𝗿𝗱 𝗶𝗱𝗲𝗻𝘁𝗶𝗳𝗶𝗰𝗮𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻, 𝘃𝘂𝗹𝗻𝗲𝗿𝗮𝗯𝗶𝗹𝗶𝘁𝘆 𝗮𝗻𝗱 𝗲𝘅𝗽𝗼𝘀𝘂𝗿𝗲 𝗮𝘄𝗮𝗿𝗲𝗻𝗲𝘀𝘀, reminding future educators of their role in promoting preparedness, safety, and resilience within their communities.

𝙈𝙤𝙡𝙙𝙚𝙙 𝙬𝙞𝙩𝙝 𝙘𝙧𝙚𝙖𝙩𝙞𝙫𝙞𝙩𝙮 𝙖𝙣𝙙 𝙨𝙘𝙪𝙡𝙥𝙩𝙚𝙙 𝙗𝙮 𝙥𝙖𝙨𝙨𝙞𝙤𝙣 — 𝙁𝙧𝙞𝙩𝙯 𝙅𝙖𝙞𝙢𝙚 𝙇. 𝙎𝙪𝙢𝙗𝙤

A 𝑴𝒂𝒈𝒏𝒂 𝑪𝒖𝒎 𝑳𝒂𝒖𝒅𝒆 𝒈𝒓𝒂𝒅𝒖𝒂𝒕𝒆 of Bachelor of Secondary Education Major in Social Studies from West Visayas State University, Fritz Jaime L. Sumbo shared his passion for publication design with SILAK Media, the award-winning official student publication of the College of Education, where he began as a 𝐥𝐚𝐲𝐨𝐮𝐭 𝐚𝐫𝐭𝐢𝐬𝐭 and later became one of its 𝐄𝐝𝐢𝐭𝐨𝐫𝐬-𝐢𝐧-𝐂𝐡𝐢𝐞𝐟.

He is a 𝐭𝐰𝐨-𝐭𝐢𝐦𝐞 𝐏𝐫𝐨𝐦𝐢𝐬𝐢𝐧𝐠 𝐋𝐚𝐲𝐨𝐮𝐭 𝐀𝐫𝐭𝐢𝐬𝐭 during the JournTalks Series of the Philippine Information Agency Region VI – Western Visayas in 2023 and 2025, and is now recognized as an 𝑰𝑾𝑨𝑮 𝑨𝒘𝒂𝒓𝒅𝒆𝒆 for meeting the program’s evaluation standards and for his commitment to advancing truthful, relevant, and impactful campus journalism through creative leadership. He was also recognized as one of The 𝐎𝐮𝐭𝐬𝐭𝐚𝐧𝐝𝐢𝐧𝐠 𝐒𝐭𝐮𝐝𝐞𝐧𝐭𝐬 𝐨𝐟 𝐈𝐥𝐨𝐢𝐥𝐨 𝐀𝐰𝐚𝐫𝐝𝐬 (𝐓𝐎𝐒𝐈𝐀) by the Junior Chamber International (JCI) Iloilo Regatta. He was later named a 𝑻𝑶𝑺𝑰𝑨 𝑺𝒄𝒉𝒐𝒍𝒂𝒓 for his exceptional academic excellence and inducted into the TOSIA Elite Circle of Five as one of the five highest-performing honorees of the prestigious award.

With passion comes service. He served as a 𝐂𝐨𝐮𝐧𝐜𝐢𝐥𝐨𝐫 𝐨𝐟 𝐭𝐡𝐞 𝐔𝐧𝐢𝐯𝐞𝐫𝐬𝐢𝐭𝐲 𝐒𝐭𝐮𝐝𝐞𝐧𝐭 𝐂𝐨𝐮𝐧𝐜𝐢𝐥 of West Visayas State University during Academic Year 2024–2025 and as 𝐁𝐨𝐚𝐫𝐝 𝐌𝐞𝐦𝐛𝐞𝐫 𝐨𝐟 𝐭𝐡𝐞 11𝐭𝐡 𝐅𝐞𝐝𝐞𝐫𝐚𝐭𝐞𝐝 𝐒𝐭𝐮𝐝𝐞𝐧𝐭 𝐂𝐨𝐮𝐧𝐜𝐢𝐥 𝐨𝐟 𝐭𝐡𝐞 𝐖𝐕𝐒𝐔 𝐒𝐲𝐬𝐭𝐞𝐦, where he took a leading role in events, creative direction, and visual communications. Today, he stands with purpose and love for his craft, committed to inspire. He believes that the best layouts are not just about being good, they capture attention, communicate effectively, and create a lasting impact.

From August 27–29, 2026, the University Cultural Center became a gathering place for young minds, brave hearts, and aspiring leaders as student leaders from West Visayas State University – Main Campus came together for the 𝗦𝘁𝘂𝗱𝗲𝗻𝘁 𝗟𝗲𝗮𝗱𝗲𝗿𝘀𝗵𝗶𝗽 𝗗𝗲𝘃𝗲𝗹𝗼𝗽𝗺𝗲𝗻𝘁 𝗣𝗿𝗼𝗴𝗿𝗮𝗺 (𝗦𝗟𝗗𝗣) 𝟮𝟬𝟮𝟲, organized by the WVSU University Student Council.

With enthusiasm and dedication, our officers—Joseph Michael Dailisan, Florence Sonia Sioco, Lovelee Precious Salubre, and Reyn Seymour Serrano—together with our members, Gian Dativo, PJ Torrico, Martin Colacion, and Hebruth Pacaco, took part in the various activities of SLDP 2026.
