Exploding off the blocks, University of San Agustin (USA) sprinter Fred Anthony Malinao, a second-year BS Information Technology student, captured two gold medals in relay events during the NPRISAA Meet 2026 athletics competition at the Panaad Park and Stadium Oval in Bacolod City, May 12.

Pacing the Western Visayas men’s quartet in the 4x100-meter relay, Malinao helped Region VI clock in at 41.8 seconds to break the existing NPRISAA record and secure the gold medal.

Backing Malinao in the record-breaking run were Herchel Seldora of the Western Institute of Technology (WIT) and Central Philippine University (CPU) standouts Kent Paul Burdan and Kurt Angel Almoguerra, whose crisp baton exchanges and sprint executions sealed the game.

Adding to his campaign, Malinao and his team also secured gold in the men’s 4x400-meter relay event, completing a double-gold finish in the athletics meet, with Almoguerra replaced by a sprinter from Capiz.

With the triumph, the WVPRISAA relay team set a new NPRISAA 4x100-meter record after clocking the fastest time in tournament history and emerged as overall champion. | via Mico Andrian Dema-ala

𝑵𝑨𝑻𝑰𝑶𝑵𝑨𝑳 𝑷𝑹𝑰𝑺𝑨𝑨 𝑹𝑬𝑪𝑶𝑹𝑫 𝑯𝑶𝑳𝑫𝑬𝑹! ⏱️🔥

The crowd at Panaad was still catching its breath when the scoreboard flashed the final time. In a performance that can only be described as legendary, our very own 𝐅𝐫𝐞𝐝 𝐀𝐧𝐭𝐡𝐨𝐧𝐲 𝐌𝐚𝐥𝐢𝐧𝐚𝐨 and his WVPRISAA teammates didn't just win—they shattered the National PRISAA Record!

With a blistering time of 41.8 seconds in 4x100 meter relay, this quartet officially became the fastest relay team in National PRISAA history. ✍️📖

Seeing athletes travel from different towns and provinces just to leave their mark on the track on our day 2 try out was the highlight of the day. Every stride told a story of the training you’ve done back home and the dedication it takes to hit those lanes.
