On November 24, 2025, a heartwarming gift-giving activity took place at the House of Hope in Upper Palalan, Lumbia, Cagayan de Oro City. This initiative was made possible through the collaboration of the Office of the Vice President for Academic Affairs, the Office of the University National Service Training Program (NSTP), and the Office of Extension and Service Learning (OESL) of Liceo de Cagayan University.

The event was marked by a spirit of generosity and compassion, with NSTP students enrolled in G-NSTP 1 for the school year 2025-2026 stepping up to contribute a variety of much-needed supplies for the patients at the House of Hope. Among the donations were essential items such as bath soaps, shampoos, detergent soaps and powders, toothpaste, toothbrushes, tissue paper, sacks of rice, cooking oil, soy sauce, and vinegar. These donations were not only practical but also a vital call to meet the needs of the residents at the facility.

A special thanks also to the NSTP Student Council, who played a crucial role in the success of the event by assisting with the repacking of all the donations, ensuring that everything was ready for delivery to the House of Hope.

The House of Hope Foundation, Incorporated, the recipient of these generous contributions, is a charitable institution dedicated to providing custodial psychiatric care for individuals who are mentally challenged. Owned by the Archdiocese of Cagayan de Oro City, it operates under the Ad Extra Ministries and serves as a vital resource for the community. Located in Upper Palalan, Lumbia, the House of Hope is a place of support and care for those in need of specialized attention.

This gift-giving activity was not just about the donations but also about coming together as a community to provide meaningful support to those who need it most. The event serves as a reminder of the importance of compassion and service, with the contributions from the Liceo de Cagayan University community truly making a difference in the lives of the residents at the House of Hope.

Thank you to everyone who participated in this heartwarming activityโ€”your kindness and generosity are deeply appreciated.

Last October 26, the NSTP Department successfully conducted the second Sunday of our Lecture-Training Series, bringing together our students for another meaningful and intellectually engaging session. โœจ

The discussions centered on two highly significant and timely topics: Disaster Risk Reduction and Management (DRRM) and Community Project Development. Given the recent events unfolding in various parts of our country, these subjects could not be more relevant. Strengthening our studentsโ€™ understanding of preparedness, resilience, and community empowerment is essential in shaping responsible and service-oriented citizens.

We extend our appreciation to all the students for their active involvement. Your commitment to learning and public service affirms the vital role of NSTP in nurturing future leaders who are ready to respond to the needs of society. ๐ŸŒฑ

Kickstarting the Sunday Series๐Ÿซ€

1st-year NSTP students came together on October 19th for an insightful lecture series. The program focused on empowering young individuals through knowledge and awareness by featuring speakers who shared valuable discussions on Sexual Education, Substance Abuse and Environmental Awareness, addressing relevant issues that shape both personal responsibility and community involvement.

Aside from the lectures, the event also served as an avenue to formally introduce the NSTP officers, to build not only a connection to their fellow first years but to also showcase the leaders who would be leading them in their journey. Lively icebreakers also added excitement and energy to the day, making the program both educational and enjoyable for everyone. It was a meaningful start to their NSTP journey, blending learning, engagement, and connection.
