𝗪𝗲 𝘄𝗶𝗹𝗹 𝗻𝗲𝘃𝗲𝗿 𝗯𝗲 𝗽𝗮𝗿𝘁 𝗼𝗳 𝘁𝗵𝗼𝘀𝗲 𝘄𝗵𝗼 𝗮𝗿𝗲 𝘀𝗶𝗹𝗲𝗻𝘁 𝗶𝗻 𝘁𝗵𝗲𝘀𝗲 𝘁𝗿𝘆𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝘁𝗶𝗺𝗲𝘀.

Two years ago, October 7, 2023, the world witnessed the escalation of violence in Palestine, but let us voice out: Palestine’s suffering did not begin on that day. For more than seven decades, Palestinians have lived under siege, dispossession, and occupation. What the world saw in 2023 was not the “beginning” of a tragedy, but the continuation chapter in a long, bloody history of colonialism and apartheid.

The numbers are staggering, and they speak louder than any press release:

𝗢𝘃𝗲𝗿 𝟲𝟳,𝟬𝟬𝟬 𝗣𝗮𝗹𝗲𝘀𝘁𝗶𝗻𝗶𝗮𝗻𝘀 𝗸𝗶𝗹𝗹𝗲𝗱.

𝗡𝗲𝗮𝗿𝗹𝘆 𝟵𝟬 𝗽𝗲𝗿𝗰𝗲𝗻𝘁 𝗼𝗳 𝗚𝗮𝘇𝗮’𝘀 𝗽𝗼𝗽𝘂𝗹𝗮𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻 𝗱𝗶𝘀𝗽𝗹𝗮𝗰𝗲𝗱.

𝟵𝟱 𝗽𝗲𝗿𝗰𝗲𝗻𝘁 𝗼𝗳 𝘀𝗰𝗵𝗼𝗼𝗹𝘀 𝗮𝗻𝗱 𝘂𝗻𝗶𝘃𝗲𝗿𝘀𝗶𝘁𝗶𝗲𝘀 𝗿𝗲𝗱𝘂𝗰𝗲𝗱 𝘁𝗼 𝗿𝘂𝗯𝗯𝗹𝗲.

$𝟱𝟯 𝗯𝗶𝗹𝗹𝗶𝗼𝗻 𝗻𝗲𝗲𝗱𝗲𝗱 𝗷𝘂𝘀𝘁 𝘁𝗼 𝗿𝗲𝗯𝘂𝗶𝗹𝗱 𝘄𝗵𝗮𝘁 𝗯𝗼𝗺𝗯𝘀 𝗵𝗮𝘃𝗲 𝗮𝗹𝗿𝗲𝗮𝗱𝘆 𝗱𝗲𝘀𝘁𝗿𝗼𝘆𝗲𝗱.

But these are not just numbers. They are children who will never see a classroom again, mothers burying their sons, fathers digging through rubble for scraps of memory. This is genocide, plain and simple. And yet, global institutions-UNICEF, the United Nations, and the so-called “international community”-continue to measure Palestinian lives as if they weigh less than Israeli ones.

There stands a gigantic evil, the US imperialism, behind this genocide. Billions of dollars in weapons flow from Washington to Tel Aviv for sustaining Israel's war machine. The bombs that flatten Gaza have a stamp "Made in USA." And shamefully, the Philippines plays its part too. Our government buys weapons from Israel, paid for out of our own tax money. At a time when Filipinos struggle with hunger, poverty, and displacement in our very land, our leaders choose to bankroll the destruction of other people, thousands of miles away. This is a clear complicity in genocide, and History will remember and never forget.

But the Arab countries, who supposed to be the first defenders of Palestine, keep still. The silence, treaties, normalizations with Israel, none of them have helped. All these treasons have made Palestine helpless, constantly seeking light: Arab street may rage, but their governments sit comfortably, watching as Palestine slips from the map, city by city, life by life.

And so the burden falls on ordinary people-on students, teachers, workers, institutions of conscience-to say what governments will not. To resist the normalization of genocide. To refuse silence in the face of oppression. Because silence is not neutrality. Silence is complicity.

We are told to move on. To stop talking. To “let it go.” But how can we stop, when every day, a Palestinian child is killed before they even learn to spell their name? How can we stop when universities like ours share the same dream of education, yet 95 percent of Gaza’s learning spaces lie in ruins? To stop talking is to betray not only Palestine, but the very principles of justice and humanity.

So we will not stop. We will not be silent. We will continue to speak, to write, to march, to teach, to remind the world that Palestine lives, that its struggle is our struggle, and that no empire-American, Israeli, or otherwise-can erase a people’s right to exist.

To our institution: Every voice matters. Every protest matters. Every refusal to stay silent matters.

Palestine will be free-not because the powerful grant it, but because the people of the world refuse to forget.

From the river to sea, Palestine will be free.

“Whoever saves one life, it is as if he had saved all of mankind.”

A concerning rise in HIV-positive cases has been reported:

BARMM: 565 cases.
Lanao del Sur: 176 cases.
Marawi City: 83 cases

In Islam, taking care of our health and our ummah is a duty. HIV is not just a medical issue — it’s a moral and communal concern. Let us:

✅ Promote education and awareness
✅ Encourage early testing and treatment
✅ Show compassion, not judgment
✅ Practice modesty and responsibility in our actions

May Allah guide us to protect ourselves and our communities with wisdom, mercy, and unity.
