The Philippine Association of Environmental Science Students (PAESS) 5th Anniversary Mindanao Leg was successfully held on March 28, 2025, at the CHTM Pavilion, MSU Main Campus, Marawi City. The event gathered environmental science student organizations across different universities in Mindanao, celebrating unity and commitment to environmental stewardship.

Highlights included a tree-growing activity featuring native species, the โ€œPunla Seminar: Career Talk on Environmental Science,โ€ cultural performances, and a heritage tour.

Ngayong International Forest Day, binibigyang-diin natin ang mahalagang papel ng mga kagubatan sa pagpapanatili ng balanse ng ating ekosistema. Ang mga kagubatan ay nagsisilbing tahanan ng napakaraming uri ng buhay, tagapangalaga ng biodiversity, at pangunahing tagasipsip ng carbon na tumutulong sa pagharap sa pagbabago ng klima.

Sa kabila nito, patuloy silang nahaharap sa mga banta tulad ng deforestation, illegal logging, at land conversion. Mahalaga ang kolektibong pagkilosโ€”mula sa siyentipikong pananaliksik hanggang sa lokal na pangangalagaโ€”upang mapanatili at maibalik ang integridad ng ating mga kagubatan.

Ang pangangalaga sa kagubatan ay hindi lamang responsibilidad, kundi isang pangmatagalang pamumuhunan para sa kinabukasan ng susunod na henerasyon.
