MOMENTS TO REMEMBER: 2026 CLSU BS Mathematics Tribute to Graduating Students
(May 21, 2026, 1:15 PM - 3:30 PM)

A beautiful chapter closes as we celebrate our graduating BS Mathematics students! The CLSU Department of Mathematics and Physics recently held a heartfelt tribute to honor the hard work, resilience, and journey of our soon-to-be graduates.

Here are some highlights from this unforgettable event:

Words on Integrity: The program commenced with a powerful and inspiring opening message from the Dean of the College of Science, Dr. Angeles M. De Leon. Her speech deeply resonated with everyone, emphasizing the critical value of integrity as our BS Math graduates step into the professional world.

Returning to the Roots: Our Department Chair, Dr. John Rafael M. Antalan, had the privilege of introducing our distinguished guest speakerโ€”Mr. James Matthew Viernes. As a pioneering BS Math graduate from the Class of 2015 and now a key professional at the Aurora State College of Technology (ASCOT), Mr. Viernes delivered a highly inspiring talk. He reminded the graduates that the BS Mathematics program fundamentally shapes individuals into critical thinkers and exceptional problem solvers, unlocking doors to incredibly diverse career paths and assignments, just like what happened to him.

Gratitude & Wisdom: The heart of the tribute shone brightly as the students took the stage to express their profound gratitude to the mentors, families, and peers who supported their journey. In return, the department faculty and staff shared their final, treasured words of wisdom to guide the students as they prepare to leave the halls of CLSU.

A Grateful Farewell: The event concluded with a moving closing remark from our Department Chair, Dr. John Rafael M. Antalan, centered on the themes of gratitude and forgiveness, beautifully anchoring the message on Colossians 3:13: "Bear with each other and forgive one another if any of you has a grievance against someone. Forgive as the Lord forgave you."

(Note: We missed the presence of some of our students and faculty members who couldn't join the photo due to prior commitments and ongoing graduation duties, but you were all there with us in spirit!)

Congratulations, Class of 2026! Go forth, solve big problems, and lead with integrity!
