On March 30, 2026, the College of Criminology warmly welcomed back one of its distinguished alumni, Police Lieutenant John Geremi Ascaรฑo Balmaceda of Batch 2019. His visit was more than a homecoming; it was a powerful reminder of what dedication, discipline, and purpose can achieve.

During his academic years at University of Luzon, PLT. Balmaceda was widely recognized as one of the institutionโ€™s most outstanding students. His commitment to excellence and his passion for the field of criminology set him apart early on, earning the respect of both his peers and mentors. He completed his Bachelor of Science in Criminology with distinction, carrying with him not only academic knowledge but also the core values of integrity, service, and leadership.

Driven by a profound sense of duty to the nation, he pursued a higher path by entering the esteemed Philippine National Police Academy. The College of Criminology of the University of Luzon proudly celebrates the successful Criminology Intern Commencement Exercises, a meaningful milestone that highlights the hard work, discipline, and dedication of our OJT students in completing their On-the-Job Training.

We extend our sincere gratitude to our Guest of Honor and Speaker, PCOL. Arnold P. Solomon, for sharing his insights and inspiring our future law enforcers. This event was made possible under the leadership of our Dean, Dante A. De Castro, whose commitment continues to guide our students toward excellence.

Our heartfelt thanks also go to Vice Mayor Brian Kua, as well as the respective Chiefs of Police from different municipalities, for gracing the occasion with their presence and support.

On March 21, 2026, the University of Luzon โ€“ College of Criminology successfully held its Criminology Intern Commencement Exercises at the UL Estadio, recognizing the dedication and successful completion of the On-the-Job Training of our Criminology students.

The event was honored by our Guest of Honor and Speaker, PCOL Arnold P. Solomon, City Director of Dagupan City, whose message inspired our future law enforcers. It was led by our Dean, Dante A. De Castro, whose leadership continues to guide students toward excellence in service.

The event honored outstanding students whose dedication and hard work earned them academic awards; reflecting the Collegeโ€™s commitment to integrity and excellence under the leadership of Dean Dante A. De Castro.

Gracing the occasion, Guest of Honor and Speaker Ma. Lorena A. Operaรฑa, RPh, MPH, delivered an inspiring message, reminding everyone that success is built through discipline, consistency, and purpose. University of Luzonโ€™s 2026 Institutional Research Conference was held on March 14, 2026, in Dagupan City, carrying the theme โ€œFostering Research Excellence at UL for Education and Institutional Advancement.โ€

The conference was graced by Dr. Cherrie Melanie Ancheta-Diego, CESO III, CHED RO1 Director IV, who served as the keynote speaker and highlighted the importance of research in shaping stronger institutions and more responsive education.

The College of Criminology, led by Dr. Dante A. De Castro, proudly took part in the event as he served as one of the panel evaluators for Track 4: Law Enforcement, Policy, and Governance. Representing the college in the research presentations were Prof. Leonel Martinez and Prof. Norie S. Neri under the Professional Category and Mark Lester Abisan and Mark Joeshua Ordoรฑez under the Student Category.

A proud moment for the department came as Mark Lester Abisan received the Best Paper Award for the study titled โ€œPrograms for Persons Deprived of Liberty for their Rehabilitation in Pangasinan Provincial Jailโ€ under Track 4.

This achievement reflects the University of Luzonโ€™s continuing commitment to research that inspires ideas, informs policy, and contributes to meaningful change in society.
