Today, May 15, we celebrate the 75th Founder’s Day in honor of St. John Baptist de La Salle. On this day in 1950, Pope Pius XII declared him the Universal Patron of Teachers.

We also remember that St. John Baptist de La Salle was canonized as a saint on May 24, 1900, by Pope Leo XIII, who shares his papal name with our recently elected Pope Leo XIV.

IN PHOTOS. Marking a milestone in its expansion to Iloilo, the University held a contract signing with Frey-Fil Corporation on April 7, Feast Day of St. John Baptist de La Salle, at Gateway Hotel in Pavia.

University administrators, led by President Br. Joaquin Severino Martinez FSC and Chancellor Minnie Chua, together with Francis Frederic Cruz, owner of Frey-Fil Corporation, signed the significant contract.

Prior to the contract signing, the USLS delegation paid a courtesy call on Pavia Mayor Laurence Anthony Gorriceta at the Municipal Mayor’s Office, where they were also welcomed by Vice Mayor Edsel Gerochi and other local officials.

Happy Feast Day of the Founder! In one with the Lasallian Family across 80 countries worldwide, we honor the legacy of St. John Baptist de La Salle, a guiding light in faith and education who taught us to teach minds, touch hearts, and transform lives.

Today, we remember his passing in 1719 and the lasting mission he left behind. May we continue to live out his vision with faith, zeal, and service.
